It’s A Rare Occasion As Two Loan Lads Get Goals This Afternoon

Freddie Woodman made his 15th start for Swansea City as they down Wigan 1-2 on a 93rd-minute goal by Sam Surridge. Swansea are able to keep pace with Leeds as they remain in an automatic promotion spot just behind Leeds on goal difference.

Jacob Murphy came on as a 70th-minute substitute for Sheffield Wednesday at Blackburn this afternoon. Jacob scored just his second goal while out on loan ten minutes after his introduction to give the Owls a 0-1 lead. However, Rovers would storm back with two late goals to claim all three points in a 2-1 victory. Jacob has had a torrid time at Hillsborough not making a start in the Championship since August. Maybe his goal-scoring cameo this afternoon is a sign of changing fortunes for the 24-year-old.

Rolando Aarons started again for Wycombe Wanderers at home against Shrewsbury today. It was the first goal on loan for Rolando as he scored the game-winner in the 57th minute as Wycombe won 1-0. It was Rolando’s third start for the club, and he’s done magnificently with the goal this afternoon. Wycombe now are top of League 1.

Dan Barlaser again did not start for Rotherham this afternoon at Gillingham. This is the second straight game that Dan was an unused sub. The Millers were able to get the away win 0-3 to move to tenth in the table.

Kelland Watts was handed his eighth straight start in all competitions for Stevenage’s 0-0 draw at Scunthorpe. Stevenage are second bottom of League Two with just 2 wins all season. Kelland will turn 20 years old tomorrow. We would like to wish a happy birthday to the local lad.

Elias Sorensen again was only handed a spot on the substitutes bench this afternoon. Manager Steven Pressley may have won himself some more time at Carlisle as they were able to end a stretch of five games with just one point. Carlisle defeated Macclesfield Town 2-1 at home this afternoon. However, Elias spends his third straight league game as an unused substitute.

Goalkeeper Nathan Harker was again just an unused substitute for Blyth Spartans at home against Farsley Celtic. Blyth won the match 2-0, and former Magpie Callum Roberts scored from the spot for the second goal.

Liam Gibson and Grimsby Town’s match at Plymouth Argyle was postponed due to some structural damage at the Plymouth venue.

Jonjo scored the game-winner today, has more goals than anyone else on the team, and still gets trashed on the blog. LOL!!! 😀

    Hail,
I see my summary got a shut up from you at half time. We hung on precisely because we did not play particularly well. We sat back as we have done constantly for years, and it nearly cost us.

We have 6 centre halves. Lascelles, Schar, Fernandez, Lejeune, Clark & Dummett. The answer to the goal scoring problem is get them all fit and play 3 of them at the back and the other 3 up front. Sorted :0)

    The Wife,
More goals? I think people do rate him but it’s hard to see how he fits in to the team…. until he plays like he did today. I haven’t seen or heard the game mind just going from what I’ve read on here today.

    Shit up.

We played excellently. They got one goal from a set-piece which should never have been and one from a half-chance well taken, one of their only chances from open play I can think of. On the other hand we shredded them both from set-pieces and open play.

Again, shut up you know nowt.

Great performance today. I am desperate to see Almiron score. Was fantastic today. ASM was great too. Both are just lacking the decisive pass and finish. Ciaran Clark has won me over. Decent on the ball and a threat from corners. Fernandez should be given a new contract. Key player. We just need to sign Ibrahima Sissoko, Rony Lopes, Jarrod Bowen and Mateta in January. Joelinton was better today. Did some good skill and passing, but is still slow in my opinion. Gayle should be given a chance. Dubravka was better today.

Jane that’s why I said its non existent and not banned. Also the type of people who use online betting are gambling addicts, and gambling addicts dont usually have a stable job in the defence forces.

My guess is hes Irish and let it slip out by mistake because maybe we know him or her from an alternate account on here. If I had an alternate account Id want to keep it secret to as it defeats the purpose of having a second account if everyone knows its the same person. Pure speculation of course!

Voted for Shelvey for MOM. I think everyone knows he has the talent but he seems to go missing in a lot of games…especially defensively. Deserves to keep his spot for next match.

Problem with Jonjo is, always has been and always will be focus and application. Think I’ve picked him to be players of the season for 3 of the 4 last seasons, so I’m a fan, but perhaps a bit too optimistic on him ever consistenyl performing at his best for longer than a few months at a time max.

Still, today’s performance is hopefully a sign of things to come from him and he can have one of his good spells and make the Longstaff’s fight for their place.

    Hail,
Did you go? I’m assuming you watched the game? There is nothing for me to gain by not actually saying what I saw at the match.

We scored 3 set pieces, had a couple of good breaks but conceded ground and never controlled the game.

Wife twisting things like jail usually does. Not one person trashed him, most including me were pointing out he switches off, and we may as well be playing with 10 men when he does it.

People want to look at the goal he scored and completely ignore the huge spaces he was leaving in midfield at times, or the lack of desire to track back or chase a man down, or his constant switching off, where was he for the last 20 mins as well?

We won, he wasnt out best player by a long way, but he wasnt bad either. He still isnt the answer to our midfield woes and hes never going to be.

Lascelles was furious with Bruce when West Ham got their first. They got another chance soon after and Lascelles screamed and remonstrated at Bruce on the touchline again.

Stream I was watching kept dropping out so I missed the last twenty minutes, had to shut my PC down to run a virus checker only just able to get back and discover the result.

Mind you I’d probably have bitten my fingers off had I been watching it. 🙂

I’ve voted for Jonjoe, he does a lot more work than he’s given credit for and today he had an end result as well, nearly two as it happened.

Wonder if it’d be worth Brucie introducing the art of lobbing keepers as they fall down in front of our lads. ASM could easily dinked the ball over their GK at least once.

Didn’t see the disallowed goal was it a fair decision?

You know nothing about football. The fact we had them right where we wanted them, to allow our counter-attack to flourish for most of the game, proves that. Controlling the game doesn’t just mean passing side to side and backwards, having 60% possession.

You’re contention we played badly is as laughable a statement as saying something like Riviere was better than Shearer – it’s plainly untrue and the weight of opinion also reflects that. Nearly everybody is buzzing with that performance.

Perfect? No. I had my gripes through the match, but overall we got it resoundingly right. Very good performance and enjoyable football resulting in a win? Yes.

Knew Shelvey would play well today. He’s playing against his boyhood club. He wants to sign for West Ham. Was more influential than the Longstaffs. Still dont rate Hayden. He’s good at winning the ball. That’s about it. Can’t shoot. Atsu should be starting. Playing really well. Team for Bournemouth:

    Dubravka

    Yedlin Schar/Fernandez Clark Willems

    Shelvey

    Atsu Almiron Saint-Maximin

    Joelinton Gayle

So , what we can say so far is that bruce is doing better points wise than benitez and we are beginning to attack a bit more. That will do for now. And it helps that jail can shut it fir a while cos if we had lost…..i wonder is he pleased for the manager that he won? Probably not, the bitter one eyed weasel.

Saint-Maximin and Willems were great signings. Almiron is a great player and will eventually get snapped up by Real Madrid. Carroll did a good pass to Almiron today wherein he should have hit it first time. Saint-Maximin must be worth about £80m now. Same with Almiron.
