Who Was Newcastle’s Man Of The Match At West Ham?

Phew! That was a little much for us, but thankfully it is now over and with three points in the bag. What a performance today from this Newcastle team. Yeah, in typical fashion, the lads couldn’t make it a 0-6 cakewalk for the fans but instead brought us a 2-3 nerve-fest.

However, we looked an entertaining and threatening side this afternoon. Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron were unbelievable even if they couldn’t get the ball into the back of the net.

The defense was a little shaky, with the two second-half goals conceded. However, we did get two first-half goals from Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez from some inventive set-pieces. DeAndre Yedlin and Jetro Willems were too much for West Ham’s fullbacks.

Jonjo Shelvey put in a fantastic performance in the midfield, and Isaac Hayden was stout with some very timely tackles. It was indeed a terrific performance, but it just goes to show that we have to put away our chances. This one should not have been this close.

A special mention to Christian Atsu, who was superb as an outlet late in the game. He may have lost his place to Allan Saint-Maximin, but he made the right decisions on the ball to help the lads close this one out.

12 points out of 11 means we’re on target to stay in the prem
It’s our only goal, every single season

Personally I want more from the toon, just staying in the league isn’t enough

Shelvey for me. His deliveries and cracking free kick got us the win.

    A toon22 story

His new girlfriend’s car got a flat tyre as they were on their way to see his parents, so he called them up and said, “Sorry Mum, I’m going to be a bit late, my girlfriend’s got a puncture.”
“Oh toon!” she sighed. “I thought you had a real one this time.”

No doubt Rice will still be in the upcoming England squad despite playing as a holding, combative midfielder today and Hayden absolutely schooling him on how to do it right.

well done today, great team performance.

Brucey boy is doing ok, wish he would attack more at home against the so called easier teams, but i think he is doing a better job than benitez before him.

Benitez is struggling in china, because he is a poor coach, football has moved on from his hoof it long and hope for the best style. the chinese league is easy in comparison to the prem, yet he cannot stop conceding goals. 18 in the last 10 games,, Brucey boy has only conceded 16, and brucey isnt exactly a great coach.
