Report – Newcastle Scout Left-Back With ‘Great Left Foot’

Newcastle were first linked to QPR left-back Ryan Manning three weeks ago.

The same publication with the original link, Football Insider, have a new report that Newcastle scouted the 23-year-old in QPR’s 2-0 defeat to Leeds yesterday.

Manning’s form this season has resulted in a call-up to the full Republic of Ireland squad for the November internationals. He previously represented his country at the U-21 level with 7 appearances.

Here is a recent quote from Ireland manager Mick McCarthy about Manning.

Manning has been an attacking force for QPR and his 30 chances created is near the top of the Championship. He is an outstanding crosser of the ball and has the pace to get up and down the flank.

He has been a bit of a defensive liability at times. However, he just transitioned to the left wing-back position late last season.

Manning’s contract expires this summer but QPR have an option to extend it another year. He would reportedly only cost around £2-3m if Newcastle were to make a move for him in January.

While Newcastle are likely to take up the option to make Jetro Willems’s move a permanent one, Matt Ritchie’s contract only runs until 2021. Manning could be seen as a possible replacement for Ritchie if a compromise on a new deal cannot be reached.

    Ref above
A 30 year old Jack Colback LB/MF with experience of the PL
and Champo plus cash would be an ideal scenario for the
    acquisition of this young man.

    Jib,
Wearside Jack is a free agent in June, he’s going nowhere in a hurry, he’ll leave on a free to negotiate his pay packet without saying goodbye.

Intelligence has NOTHING to do with the words or language they use. Neither has it anything to do with how childish I am sometimes. I am insanely smart, and nothing you can do or say will ever take that away.

Cue the ‘ yeah but you’re still an W*nker ‘ stuff etc etc..

    IrishRob,
That’s simply not true, a frontal lobotomy would do the trick.

I do Paully, very clearly I just wrote it. It’s nothing but brutal honesty, like it or lump it, its facts. I’m not concerned if YOU think its conceited or arrogant, I’m concerned with facts!! Facts I’m guessing are something you dont like or know much about.

    Rotonda
His wages stop in June as Jail pointed out
His best option in January could be a 3 year contract
with QPR and a signing on fee
His wages from Jan to June about 900K

I’m a big Sean Longstaff fan, can do almost anything, and also a big Hayden fan, very combative, keeps it simple and does it well. The two also play well together, but if the forwards can continue do their jobs like they did on Saturday then you can really use Shelvey or a KiSy in the 11 to play them in.

If the forwards gel, and start pushing defenses more onto the back foot, that gives the midfield a little more time on the ball, and then we effectively double our midfield options, and are more dangerous obviously and a more watchable side, and that’s key, you really do want value for money on the match day ticket.
