Who Did Our Readers Select As Man Of The Match At West Ham?

In what was hopefully a sign of things to come, Newcastle’s attack was unleashed against West Ham this past weekend. To say it was coming would be a stretch for even the most ardent optimist.

In the previous five matches, Newcastle had just 2 goals and 9 shots on target. Newcastle scored 3 and had 9 shots on target at West Ham in their best all-around performance of the year.

If Newcastle can build on the attacking bent shown at West Ham while keeping their defensive standard of the past month, they should be good stead for the rest of this season.

The poll for our Man of the Match for West Ham reflects Newcastle’s new charging spirit. The man who seems born to attack has claimed almost 50% of the 2,422 votes cast.

Allan Saint-Maximin collected 1,182 of the votes to win Newcastle’s best player poll for a second week running. Last week for the Wolves match, the Frenchman easily won with 35%.

Coming in second place was Jonjo Shelvey, with 22% of the vote. This was an excellent return to the starting eleven for Jonjo. He scored his second goal of the season and was instrumental in Newcastle’s forward-thinking approach to this game.

Miguel Almiron came in third with 9% of the vote. He was also outstanding as he battled at both ends of the pitch, the willing runner that he is.

But our player of the month for October, Allan Saint-Maximin has come out on top as the Man of the Match this week and deservedly so.

ASM is looking favourite for player of the season at the moment so out of curiosity I thought I’d check to see if anybody had chosen him and interestingly 6 people did including Jib, Jane & Bills just to feed the rumour mill and alt frenzy

martoon, who were the other 3 out of interest?

I’m pleased for ASM, his pace and talent were never in question, what was (and has been for all of our French imports) was his ability to apply that in the Premier League consistently.

I think he’s on his way to proving that he can translate his skill into performances and this is very exciting. He seems to be a genuinely nice guy off the pitch also – his twitter exchange with the fans shows that.

    Bill’s son

Since you’ve named me as one of your critics, have you ever wondered why you get kick-back on some of your posts?

Does it occur to you that singing the praises of Bruce, his appointment as the one who’d accept Ashley’s rules and Ashley’s running the club into the ground might be way out of kilter with the views of most NUFC fans?

You’re surely not trying to emulate Jib who posts silimilarly controversial views? If you are, you’re doing very well.

Yes, ASM is an exciting player but he needs to have some confidence-boosting training that’ll help him finish his runs with outcome – goals! Shearer’d be more than happy to help the lad but Ashley screwed that option up, big time.

lesh re Bill’s “ever wondered why you get kick-back on some of your posts?”

The truly arrogant never bother to stop and think about how their opinions may be perceived by those with whom they are in contact and are always amazed when other people disagree with them. It’s at that point that accusations of ignorance and lower intelligence are levelled.

RobLeenio – the other three were simon376, Reilly and Nostradamus “MA Clown”.
Actually while checking this I notice I’ve made a mistake it wasn’t Jane but wynsleap.

There goes a wonderful theory 😉
