Newcastle Tracking Dynamic Portuguese Right-Back – Report

Newcastle are reportedly keeping tabs on Royal Antwerp’s Aurelio Buta. The Birmingham Mail have a report that the 22-year-old right-back is a top target of Wolves. However, it says that both Newcastle and Watford are also tracking the former Portuguese U-20 international.

Buta is a product of the outstanding Benfica Academy, where he rose as high at the Benfica B team. In the summer of 2017, he joined Royal Antwerp on loan before moving there permanently the following summer.

Since joining the Jupiler Pro League side, Buta has been a constant presence on matchday. He has 54 appearances for Antwerp over the past two-plus seasons.

While mainly being deployed at full-back, Buta can also play further forward as a right-winger or even fill in at left-back if needed.

He would reportedly cost in the £5m range and would likely be a replacement for Javier Manquillo, who it looks like will be allowed to run his contract down and leave on a free this summer.

Newcastle also have DeAndre Yedlin and Emil Krafth at the position. However, Yedlin’s contract expires in 2021 and there has been no talk of an extension for the American.

With his speed and crossing ability, Buta could be seen as an alternative to Yedlin if Newcastle fail to retain the 26-year-old beyond next season.

Still waiting to understand what players have been sold by the club for a profit based on the club wanting to go down that route? Last one I can recall is Carroll. Someone mentioned Perez well as soon as he started putting his fingers in his ears and giving interviews about new challenges etc the writing was on the wall. Perez would have went whatever the club did no doubt.

Jail………… Of course it has something to do with NUFC that’s why I broached the subject. As I said if Corbyn gets in he’ll start meddling with private ownership of football clubs and make them state owned.

He will then decide who is the best equipped in his government to deal with the redistribution of players and assets of PL clubs and all hell will let loose. If it’s someone who is biased towards Southern Clubs then they’ll end up with all the best players and that’s how it’ll stay,

On Willems, I’m not as convinced as you.

Great going foward and at finding space, offers very little defensively.

I can barely remember him making a tackle since he’s been here.

Obvs a wing back gets foward more but I’d like to see a bit more defensively, he’s a big lad, shouldn’t be scared of a tackle or sticking his foot in.

    Nufc-83,
More importantly players haven’t been replaced when sold, Carroll sold and not reached until the summer after with Ba who then wasn’t adequately replaced. Cabaye sold and replaced with LDJ a month later, the transfer policy sucks and you must know it.

Debuchy sold and not replaced. It wasn’t until Rafa got here and all saleable assets were sold to be properly replaced by a team to get out the Championship that things were done properly. Ashley soon reverted to type once he thought we were back up.

Lascelles was given a new deal because he was on youth team wages, I bet he’s not given a new deal in two years time.

We’ve never ever strengthened to push on is the problem, ever since that fifth place finish. They knew they were going to sell Cabaye yet they waited until the day he was sold before bringing in LDJ, why not bring him in at the start of January to bed him in, why? Because that’s a months wages down the drain and we were safe anyway. We went on to record our biggest run of defeats in our history before Carver smashed it a year later.

Theres no point in debating it with him, he is trying to defend Jabba and his running of the club
Theres not a football fan on earth happy with an owner who dont spend on the team, our owner makes money from it but we are led to believe some toon fans are happy with it all

Jail that 5th place season was a disgrace. Although we had a clown managing in Pardew we had assembled a very good team. It would not have taken much investment at all to push on and compete. I remember being so deflated after that window shut. Feels a little like it’s been ever since tbh!!

Said before but ziyech of Ajax is a phenomenal player. Still young too. It’s embarrassing that he had a release fee of only £30m yet nobody came in for him. He signed a new deal and had it removed now.

“We generally don’t sell players purely for profit” Please somebody just shoot me now!!
No, we don’t, not the flops like Santon, Mbwia, Cabella, Thauvin, Saivet, Obertan, Xisco, Marveux and many more but anyone decent like Carroll, Cabaye, Debuchy, Ba, Tiote was as good as gone but greed got in the way. It is a stated policy that we buy young players with sell on value…..to sell, it’s testament to how poor the policy is implemented and Ashley’s penny pinching that more haven’t been sold.

If the under 23 players are unhappy with Redfearn departing then Liam Bradley’s position ain’t going to be great with them.
Is it possible that Redfearn has engineered his departure with the Carlisle job possibly in the offing. A quicker route back to management?

Different code but maybe Saracens should be demoted from their Premiership which is what Exeter Chiefs now want and with good reason. In that case the Falcons should be reinstated to the Premiership.

Jail all of the players listed were not sold purely for profit as stated. There were footballing reasons behind pretty much all of the sales mentioned. Carroll is the last one that I thought didn’t want to leave us but the club chose the money on offer. All the rest it’s very easy to see why they were sold. Having said that you may argue that we should have declined interest in the likes of debuchy however I don’t agree with keeping players who don’t want to be at the club and my opinion is if that’s the case as long as financially it works the club have to do it. As I said the disgraceful transfer policy is another separate issue that I will agree with you on.

I’m also not against being a club that sells players on to the top teams in world football. I think that is a way of building and if we have that interest it shows the club are bringing in the correct players. If you do that and employ a wise transfer strategy (which we clearly don’t) it can work well and before you know it you can compete with the teams at the top and no longer have to sell (unless the Madrid’s or Barcelona’s of the world come calling in which any club will sell). Other than that we get taken over by a stupidly rich owner who injects silly money in aka city – is that even allowed anymore with FFP rules?

Heung-Min Son’s red card against Everton has been overturned and he will be available for Tottenham’s next three domestic fixtures.

So much for VAR then, another botched decision.
