Newcastle Midfielder Claims Premier League Goal Of The Month Award

Last week, Matty Longstaff won the Match of the Day goal of the month award.

Today, that goal has been named as the Premier League goal of the month for October.

Matty Longstaff has had his share of good news recently. He was named to the England U-20 squad for next week representing his first international call-up.

His first goal for Newcastle came, of course, in his Premier League debut and helped Newcastle turn their fortunes around after two terrible performances. Matty went on to start the next two games before being replaced by Jonjo Shelvey this past weekend at West Ham.

The younger Longstaff has now firmly entrenched himself in the match-day squad. Even if he doesn’t start tomorrow, he is an almost certainty to be in the squad.

It’s been a meteoric rise for the nineteen-year-old and is similar to his older brother Sean’s situation from last year. This is some more well-deserved recognition for Matty who has a bright future at Newcastle.

Just gets better and better for Sean. Keep your feet on the ground though son, you’ve still got a long way to go and plenty of hard work ahead of you. His family seems like the kind to stop his head getting too big. I hope we see him in our first team for many more years to come 😀

Why isn’t a Longstaff the Planning Officer for the Strawberry land.
That would be such a popular decision.

Our back line is in for a busy day against Fraser, King and the two Wilsons this weekend. Very jealous of their attacking line up. Can’t see us keeping a clean sheet, and I doubt we’ll score more than them, so the best I’m hoping for is a score draw, 1-1.
