Report – Two London Giants Join Newcastle In Scouting Senegalese Striker

Earlier this month, Newcastle were reported to be watching Metz striker Habib Diallo.

The original report was that Newcastle and Leicester City had scouts attend Metz’s October 19th match against Nantes. During that match, the Senegalese striker scored his 7th goal of the season.

The Sun are now reporting that both Chelsea and Tottenham have joined the fray for the 24-year-old.

The latest report says that in addition to Newcastle and Leicester City, both Spurs and Chelsea have had scouts watching Diallo this season.

Habib Diallo– Newcastle face competition for Ligue 1 hitman

Diallo has scored 8 goals in his 13 League 1 appearances this term and is reportedly rated at £10m. He scored 26 goals in 37 games in Ligue 2 last season as Metz jumped straight back up after getting relegated the season before.

Newcastle have been linked with a few strikers heading into the January window. RB Leipzig’s Yussuf Poulsen and Lille’s Victor Osimhen are two of the more prominent links. However, both would command fees well beyond Newcastle’s reported £20m kitty for the winter window.

While Diallo is a more reasonable prospect, we are not too sure of the winter window will bring. Steve Bruce has, for the most part, downplayed any talk of incomings at the moment.

Newcastle have found some attacking form of late with 5 goals in the last 2 matches after scoring just 6 in the first 10. However, most of those goals have come from the defense.

The front three are getting more of the chances which were sorely lacking earlier this campaign. A lot is going to depend on how they perform over the next nine games until the window opens on January 1st.

    Lilongwe,

Sorry your post kept getting hung up in the blog filter. But kudos to you for figuring out the trigger word. 🙂

As you surmised, measures were taken in order to curtail a certain inflammatory topic on the blog.

    Rob,

Seeing as you’re about….I didn’t want to get involved in any abuse or name calling (so I didn’t comment on it) but, just wanted to sing your praises on your debate today (and on your impeccable behavior).

Well done sir….you have my respect.

Evening The Wife, hope you’re well.

Probably not a bad idea to be leaning on the anti-politics button. Folks on here find enough to get riled up about, without introducing the ‘P’ word.

Hope you’re all well prepared for the icy blast on its way. Brrr

    NY,
Jesper was controversial, and no more argumentative than many on here. I don’t think he is being ridiculed, i think it is actually part affection and missing him. He was certainly good value for football discussions. Just slightly out there with some of his ideas.

    Hi RobLeenio!

Doing well, thanks – and definitely looking forward to some cooler weather.

Agreed on The P Word. There’s plenty to bicker about on here without adding that to the mix. 😀

Despite me mentioning it gawd knows how many times, Munster refuses to acknowledge the fact that Villa spent as much as us that summer trying to get straight back up and still maintains we had an unfair advantage.
    be fair to Munster …

In many ways he is right (they did spend big ) however as i recall they had a change at the helm in mid October that year so we did indeed have an unfair advantage.we had an elite coach .. They got ? well emmm ya nah
However my Bruce did assist in us winning the champo on the last day getting the last minute draw against the low flying rats 🙂

Jail, the squad Rafa had ( and which he party assembled) was a FAR better proposition than Villa so stop talking tripe. I have many pals who support teams down in that division ans at the start of the season they reckoned our team and subs was the strongest ever assembled for that division. So knock your revisionism on the head please. I must say I enjoyed how the whole abuse of SB is easing and some context put on Rafa over the last few days, and plenty of discrediting of Tsunki’s lunatic views about silverware etc. As a heart counter I’m sure you noticed the many hearts being handed out for more sensible fair and balanced perspectives. The logic of guys like Billson is , correctly, far more accepted by the blog now. And thankfully Rafa’s tenure is now viewed accurately and in context . Progress at last.
