Newcastle Training Images Confirm Defender Back In Training

Newcastle have released images of this morning’s training session. In two of those images, Fabian Schar can be seen on an exercise bike.

The club also confirm that the 27-year-old defender is back training with his teammates in a statement provided with the pictures. This is the statement from the club about this morning’s training session:

A handful of United players are currently away with their countries, with Ciaran Clark and Martin Dúbravka involved in vital EURO 2020 qualifiers for the Republic of Ireland and Slovakia respectively, while DeAndre Yedlin (USA), Miguel Almirón (Paraguay) and Matty Longstaff (England Under-20s) are also on international duty.

The rest of Steve Bruce’s squad – including defender Fabian Schär, who is recovering from a knee injury – have been training back home, though, as attentions began to turn to the Premier League game at Villa Park.

Schar has missed Newcastle’s last three matches with his knee injury. Federico Fernandez has come in and filled in very nicely for the Swiss star.

It looks like Fabian is on his way back to full fitness. With the club confirming this morning that captain Jamaal Lascelles will be out until the new year, it’s timely that Fabian is back in training.

Newcastle also have Florian Lejeune close to making his return to the first-team. He has two reserve matches under his belt and has been in training over the past month.

Newcastle are still without Matt Ritchie, who has suffered a couple of setbacks in his return to fitness. Bruce said in his press conference last week that the 30-year-old would be given some rest as he tries to make his way back from his ankle injury.

    @Oldgit

I can see Bruce giving Shelvey the captaincy to try and get some consistency out of him!

Some canny stats for st Maximin, published by TheOther14 on twitter.

He’s currently 2nd for creating chances per minute played in the Premier League, after Jack Grealish of Villa. Christian Atsu is 6th, too….

    https://twitter.com/Other14The/status/1194921157729955840

This also supports the theory we’ve all had that we’re creating plenty of chances but failing to take them.

According to the fans’ vote on The Mag, the choice for Captain should be Isaac Hayden (11%)

I think I’d go for Dubs, he’s a popular figure, a good string leader and ever-present in the team.

I think Kieran Clark is an excellent pro and could easily be a great captain but will he play every week if fit? Luckily we’ve got Lejeune coming back and I think he’ll get the captaincy along with Jonjo!

What is the point in a rotating captaincy? The captain is meant to be the leader on the field. How can he be that if he knows next game he’s not?

I think Rafa gave him a chance at the start of his reign as well as Saylor , Janmaat etc it was only when he realised a lot of them were pony or no longer interested and dropped them that we started to pick up results!

Despite sounding harsh and insensitive, I thought Laschelles needed a time off to recover his focus. It seems to me he is trying too hard to impress and is tentative when pressed. He should have done better several times including when we conceded against Bournemouth.

I agree that headlines are more attention grabbing than hard facts but this is how it is and always has been with every newspaper, I do find it surprising however if, as you seem to imply, you base your opinions of a newspaper mainly on their headlines.

The DT is admittedly biased towards the Tory party but it does also have good hard fact based news, it doesn’t make me a right wing Tory cos I read it.

I’ve voted for most of the parties at one time or another and will always do so in how I interpret their aims.

I might not even vote this time around as all of them are coming out rubbish promises.

This comment will probably be netted. 🙂

Are we REALLY AFTER XHAKA though?

Seems like made up nonsense because the guy is desperate to leave! He’s a similar player to Shelvey but with the same issues to do with work rate etc if we were to take any Arsenal midfielder Torreria would be worth a shout as apparently he wants to leave as well!

Saying that if you were to take Aubemyang and Lacazette out of their team and put them with our defence you would be looking at the european places!

Going by BobbyBees experiences it sounds like knee and leg injury treatment were extremely rudimentary in the sixty’s and seventy’s, Brian Clough and Derek Dougan wee two other players of that time that could have played on for years with modern treatment methods.

Who knows in the near future leg breaks and torn ligaments might be treatable pitchside with players back in play after a few minutes!

    Nothing shadowy about them

    Most of them don’t trade
Somehow I don’t think the Foundation can be classed as robbing anyone

Aye Bill…… They’ll be able to just fit a replacement bionic limb pitch side in a few decades.
Back in the day if a player had fluid on the knee they used to give him a tap on the leg.

Aye you’re correct but the thing with some injuries is that you can run them off, unless it’s obviously serious then I think most players will give it some time, especially Jamal.
