Matty Longstaff And Two Other Youngsters In International Action Yesterday

It was a fantastic evening for England last night as they qualified for Euro 2020 by defeating Montenegro 7-0 at Wembley in their 1000th game.

There was also some Newcastle related news for England last night as two Newcastle youngsters made their England debuts at the youth level. A third youngster, Oisin McEntee, also captained the Republic of Ireland under-19s.

Nineteen-year-old Matty Longstaff made his debut for the England under-20 team. Matty came on in the 72nd minute in a 4-0 win at Portugal. The lads will head back to England for a Tuesday match against Iceland in Wycombe.

Midfielder Joe White also made his debut in the under-18 level. Playing against Russia in Spain, the England under-18s won 5-2. The 17-year-old started the match and played over 70 minutes before being substituted.

Eighteen-year-old center-back Oisin McEntee scored an early goal for the Republic of Ireland under-19s. It wasn’t enough as Switzerland scored 2 goals to seal a victory in the under-19 European Championship qualifier. Ireland will play Gibraltar on Saturday.

The New York born McEntee has played 8 times for Newcastle under-23 side this season with 1 goal. The youngster can play centrally but has also played a little at right-back.

It’s great to see some of these youngsters play internationally. We are very pleased that both Matty Longstaff and Joe White were able to make their debuts yesterday.

Who exactly is the “us” you refer to when saying “Shelvey is 29, running his contract down would be good for us”

I fail to see how letting one of our most experienced players who’s reaching his prime, leave on a free being a good thing.

Care to explain who “us” is

Arsenal ‘fans’ – in one word ‘pampered – delusional – dummy out of pram spitting – plonkers’ (long word).

I must admit it used to drive me mad the way arsenal fans moaned about Wenger after all he had achieved there. Top 4 every season for 20 years playing beautiful football, all whilst paying off their stadium. Ironic they go and buy PEA, Lacazette and Pepe for big money when Wenger was on the way out.

there’s any number of people we should have kept or got for peanuts, like Abraham who was wrtten off as ”tap in” by some on here when we could have got him for a relative 15M pittance. Tammy for 15M or Joel for 40M…hmmm…

    Some stunners on here like
One minute whining about the parsimony of the club
The next breath slagging the club off for paying over the odds
