Newcastle Reportedly Scouting Wolves Top Winter Target

Newcastle were reported to have an interest in Portuguese right-back Aurelio Buta earlier this month.

There are new reports that Newcastle have sent scouts to Belgium to watch the Royal Antwerp star. According to the Daily Express, both Newcastle and Wolves have had scouts watching the 22-year-old recently.

Unfortunately, Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has had Buta on his wish list for some time and they look to be the runaway favorites to sign the speedster in January.

However, they are reportedly looking at an initial loan deal for the wing-back to provide cover and competition for Matt Doherty.

Aurelio Buta– Newcastle and Wolves scouting pacy right-back

Buta is a right-sided attacker who has a lethal cross. He came through the excellent Benfica Academy before joining Royal Antwerp in 2017 initially on loan. Antwerp made the deal a permanent one the following summer.

He has made 55 appearances for the Jupiler Pro League side in just over two years and has 10 assists. Buta is mostly deployed as a right-back but can play further forward as a winger or fill in at left-back if needed.

Newcastle are not in need of a right-back with three on the books in DeAndre Yedlin, Emil Krafth, and Javier Manquillo. However, Manquillo will likely see out his contract this summer and leave on a free. Yedlin also will have just 18 months left on his deal when the winter window opens.

If Wolves are unable to reach an agreement for Buta, maybe Newcastle can come in for him. He is likely to cost in the £5-10m as his contract with Antwerp will only have 18 months remaining on it as well.

While right-back is certainly not a priority now, if Yedlin’s contract situation is not sorted by this summer, it could become an issue then.

He would be a perfect replacement for Yedlin with his pace and attacking mentality. However, he looks to have a better final ball than the American. If Newcastle are not going to offer Yedlin a new deal, then bringing in Buta could be some good business.

Hopefully we will be in the top half of the season before and after Xmas, something Rafa couldn’t do.

We struggled all of the first half of last season, and we were terrible, weren’t by the top half, that’s for sure.

I don’t think so. He tried to imply it was a wind up. Don’t believe that.

Seems they even have a name for it.
    Speach Accomodation.

“Psychologists theorise that people do this sort of thing for a number of reasons but [it is] mainly to make themselves understood and to make themselves more likeable.”
Douglas says that, most often, people will do this subconsciously – and it is likely that this is what was going on in Barton’s case.

I wonder how Brucie will react to his first shafting. Although if he hasn’t been given any promises I suppose they can’t break them.

You do realise, no probably not, Rafa put out teams that cost less than Joelinton. No right thinking person would ever try and belittle the efforts of Rafa.

Rotonda but Perez was sold for 30m which is probably closer to what we paid for Joelinton (still not having it was a clean 40 maybe with certain milestones).

    Rotonda heights,
He’s a wind up mate, watch him turn on Bruce if he becomes popular. He sang the praises of Pardew, thinking we hated him then the dolt found out he’d become popular so started to slate him, then when he was deeply unpopular started singing his praises again. The man, yes man is an idiot.

Rafa is way better than Bruce no doubt about it though and I think a good reason why we have players performing at this current level is the work Rafa done with them over last season (especially the defence).

The Mag have published excerpts from a Guardian interview with Philippe Albert, but it’s originally in The Grauniad and it’s much better in full.

There’s a photo of Albert’s NUFC shrine which features a figurine of himself from the same series as my Rob Lee gravatar.

There’s loads of those MicroStars figures on ebay. Most of them are up for £1.99, but there’s one which is up for sale at £2.99. Bet you can’t guess which player it features.

Literally nobody will get this, I’ll give you all till 2pm to guess, but no cheating allowed.

Jail, you so far up rafas arse it’s embarrassing.

If Rafa was here and went the entire season without winning a game, you and people like Toon22 still wouldn’t have a bad word to say about him,

Yes he’s done a lot for the city, but getting the results on the pitch, well that’s a different matter, yes he didn’t have money to sign players but neither did other previous managers.
