Newcastle’s Joe White played his third straight match for England under-18s this afternoon as the Young Lions downed the Czech Republic 1-0 in Spain. Also playing in the game was Newcastle target Luke Matheson, a 17-year-old right-back for Rochdale.
Joe White started the game but was replaced at halftime for Arsenal’s Miguel Azeez as manager Ian Foster made five changes at the break.
The 17-year-old recently signed his first professional contract with Newcastle as he has broken into the under-23s this season. This was his first international call-up as the England under-18s played three matches in Spain against Russia, Norway, and the Czech Republic.

White made his debut this past Thursday when he started in England’s 5-2 win against Russia. In that match, he played 72 minutes before being replaced by Valencia’s Yunus Musah.
White also came on as a 90th-minute substitute for Musah in a 4-4 draw against Norway on Saturday.
Today’s match was the final one of the year for the Newcastle under-18s. It’s great to see Joe White get to play in all three matches, especially getting starts in two of them.
The youngster could have a bright future for Newcastle if he can continue his development. He just turned 17 last month, so he has time on his side.
