L’Equipe is reporting that Newcastle are scouting Le Mans winger Stephane Diarra. The 20-year-old Ivorian is known for his awe-inspiring dribbling skills in Ligue 2.

Diarra is another player Newcastle are tracking who has just joined their current club permanently this season similar to Rony Lopes with Sevilla and Victor Osimhen with Lille. We also signed Emil Krafth in August after just joining Amiens on a permanent deal.
Diarra spent last season on loan with Le Mans when they were in the Championnat National, which is the third tier of French football. He made 33 appearances in helping the club gain promotion to Ligue 2.
He joined the club permanently in July from Rennes for a fee of £440k. This season the right-winger has made 16 appearances with 3 goals and 2 assists.
Diarra has dual French and Ivorian citizenship but has not featured for either nation at any level. The report in L’Equipe says that both Leicester City and Celtic are also scouting the player.
The youngster will turn 21 in December. He is third in Ligue 2 in attempted dribbles but leads all players with a success rate of 74%.

I’ll never forget watching the mighty Gills at Roker Park just over 30 years ago winning and relegating Sunderland in the play offs. Keith was round at mine the night before the game talking about the lad he had just signed for a sheet of iron and 10 tracksuits (Cascarino) who was going to win the game for them. What a day that was

Comment #4what would be the odds of us getting Poch (if we didnt already have a world class manager at the helm)?
hes a great manager and genuinely brings through youths rather than just saying he does. i think hell go to man utd though. spurs can take their pick. if theyve got any ambition theyll be scouring the championship for former premier league journeymen. benitez could be considered but hed need to win the league for spurs fans to accept his style.

Comment #12its bad seeing three geordie/ former nufc youths in the england u20s and we let 2 go. seems charnleys plan for our youths is we will keep the squad full of local lads but have special focus on the rubbih ones while letting the extremely rare premier league standard local lads leave. all this in hope of producing a dummet every 5-10 years.

Yeah I mentioned this earlier, 2 Gibsons, 2 Taverniers and 2 Longstaffs, it’s a conundrum with the youngsters, as you say we seem to let a lot of players go before we know if they are good enough or not but on the other hand how many can be realistically kept?

Comment #18Does anybody have a link to the Newcastle team of the decade voted by fans? I heard someone mention Ben Arfa was in the team.
Here’s my team anyway.
Krul
Collocinni Lascelles Lejuene
Ben Arfa Shelvey Cabaya Tiote Enrique
Perez Ba
Subs: Nolan Cisse Schar Mitrovic Rondon Ritchie Dubravka
Come to soon for: Almiron, The Longstaffs, Maximin
We could probably make a better team of players that were misused/ underperformed: Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Thauvin, De Jong or players we missed out on by a few million. I’ve just noticed that my team and most teams will consist of mostly Carr scoutings.

Comment #24In the last decade, we haven’t exactly ripped the PL apart, so there won’t be too many from past teams who would even make today’s team. For example, our defence now is the best we’ve ever had, including the entertainers.
Some exceptions: HBA, Wijni, Sissoko, Enrique, Jonas, Ba, Cisse (first year).

I think it shows ambition by the Spurs board
Proven League winners are a rare breed
SAF Guardiola Mourinho Wenger possibly Klopp soon
Rafa hasn’t won a League since the early 2000’s
Pellegrini and Mancini bought the title
Leicester won it with Ranieri because the main
contenders were in transition,

Comment #35Looks like the taste of football site were among the first to smell the Mourinho deal. This is what they wrote:
“In terms of the style of play, it’s not pretty on the eye. I’ll agree with that. But pragmatism has got Jose to where he is today. If defensive football and ‘parking the bus’ can win games against the big sides, Spurs fans won’t complain.”
There’s a key word in there:”win”.
Fans will accept boring football on the condition that it’s winning football. Otherwise, you’re out.
Big challenge for Mourinho.

Last night my knee-jerk reaction was to criticise
Daniel Levy – shades of Ashley with Hoots I guess
However having slept on it I agree with you
it’s a different scenario – his harshness stems from
ambition for Spurs.
The polar opposite of Ashley’s footy philosophy
