In late July, there were multiple reports that Newcastle were very interested in signing Brazilian forward Marrony. There was even a report out of Portugal, that Newcastle were in negotiations for the 20-year-old in a £10.7m deal.
Those claims appeared to be wide of the mark as later in the month, the Chronicle’s Mark Douglas issued a statement on Twitter that Newcastle had no interest in the Vasca da Gama youngster.
After this revelation from Douglas, Newcastle’s links to Marrony died down. However, the forward still seems to be in demand with some high profile clubs.
La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira is reporting that Monaco are now in negotiations for Marrony.

This tweet roughly translates to:
Monaco in negotiations with Vasco da Gama for left-winger Marrony.
Marrony is contracted to Vasca da Gama until 2023 and has a €35m release clause. However, it is believed that the Brazilian club would accept a fee in the €10m range.
The versatile youngster has made 30 appearances in Brazil’s Serie A this season with 3 goals and 2 assists. He’s mainly been used as either a center-forward or on the left-wing.
