Newcastle Part Of English Quartet On Dijon Scouting Mission

On Friday, Get French Football News sent out the following tweet stating that Newcastle and other Premier League clubs were due to have scouts attend Dijon’s home match against Rennes. The game ended in a 2-1 victory for the hosts.

Newcastle have not been publicly linked with a player from either team recently. Though ex-Magpie Romain Amalfitano, currently with Dijon, and former target Clement Grenier, now at Rennes, both started the match.

Seventeen-year-old wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga plays for Rennes. However, the French midfielder missed out on the trip to Dijon due to a slight muscle injury he picked up playing internationally a few weeks ago.

The player is likely not a target for Newcastle as he is considered one of France’s future stars. He is being tracked by Barcelona and Manchester United, who would have to fork out £51.5m to pry him from Rennes.

Like the Monaco at Bordeaux match that Newcastle reportedly had scouts at on Sunday, this match also had some quality young players that Newcastle may have been tracking.

Dijon’s 18-year-old midfielder Enzo Loiodice started the match and is a French under-20 international. Loiodice will turn 19 in a few days but has already made over 20 appearances for Dijon.

Dijon– celebrating Mounir Chouiar’s goal

Similarly, another French under-20 international, Mounir Chouiar, started on the left-wing and scored the clinching goal. Though, the 20-year-old just joined Dijon from Lens in September.

Matheus Pereira also started for Dijon in the midfield. The 21-year-old is on a season-long loan at Dijon from the mighty Juventus.

For Rennes, M’Baye Niang has been on Newcastle’s radar for almost five years. Our initial interest in the Senegalese international dates back to January 2015 when he played for AC Milan.

Niang is still only 24-years-old and has scored an impressive 6 goals in all competitions this season. However, the striker just joined Rennes from Torino this past summer for £13m.

It seems like Newcastle may be ramping up their scouting missions in France again. There have been links with a fair few players in Ligue 1 and 2 recently.

Over the past month, we have been credited with tracking Lille’s Victor Osimhen, Metz striker Habib Diallo, Strasbourg midfielder Ibrahima Sissoko, and Le Mans winger Stephane Diarra.

    Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you all know that Monday (already officially Monday in the UK!) is Ed’s 75th birthday. The family met up today for an early celebration lunch and enjoyed some dessert afterwards. 🙂

Happy birthday Ed, you’ve done good to get this far despite the tribulations of the last few years, let’s hope that there’s many good years left for you.

Also that you’ll be around to see us win something despite a certain club owner, we live in hope.

Wor flags group needs to galvanize again; this time with Ashley Out flags. When Genjikai can do it all by himself why can’t there be a concerted fan movement? Need to get Ashley out before the club is done with.

A clot is a silly clumsy person one stage removed from an idiot, so it’s almost a compliment to some of the inhabitants of the blog.

The Loon Symbol. The Loon is a solitary bird of the wilderness, that symbolizes tranquility, serenity and the reawakening of old hopes, wishes and dreams.

So inasmuch that most of us want a reawakening of old wishes and dreams for the Toon but I suspect that you weren’t meaning that in the more positive sense Mr Tuff. 🙂

Make my mind up [about the win margin to get us to 6th]?

And no, I’m not Diane Abbot: she’s much cleverer than I and would’ve spotted – as you didn’t in your haste to be a smart alec – that the scores at the time of my posts were 2-3 then 3-3.

And you mischievous monkey, judging by your comment about manifesto costings, you’ve taken to jumping on EGB’s bandwagon. Bill can be excused though, he’ll have had his dose of misinformation from his weekend conditioning from his paper of choice whereas you, Jiblets, just jump on any bandwagon that you think might earn you some approval.

I hope Neil and his good lady don’t put you both on the naughty step for not being able to control yourselves.

Bettyswallocks and I are noting who’s ignoring The Wife’s plea for moderation in what’s posted. We trust she is.

Chris Hughton and Rafael Benítez are in the frame to take over at West Ham if manager Manuel Pellegrini is sacked, with the club winless in seven games. (Guardian)

What is it with our former best loved managers leaving NUFC and being courted by the tax payer run West Ham ?
