According to a tweet from Scouts in Attendance, Newcastle will be one of many clubs with scouts watching when Bordeaux take on Monaco later today.

It will be interesting to see if any names emerge from this scouting trip, if it is accurate. Newcastle do have peripheral links with some of Bordeaux’s players over the past year. However, they are likely no longer targets for a variety of reasons.
This summer Newcastle were linked with Bordeaux right-back Youssouf Sabaly, however the 26-year-old has played just once in the league and is out for the foreseeable future with a long-term knee injury.
Josh Maja– are Newcastle interested in 20-year-old?
Last January, we were also linked with then-Sunderland striker Josh Maja. However, Maja joined Bordeaux for around £1.5m later that month.
He has not really set Ligue 1 alight with no starts and just 1 goal in his 11 substitute appearances this season. We have doubts that Newcastle are still interested in the London-born Nigerian international.
Another player at Bordeaux that Newcastle were linked to early this past summer is left-back Lloris Benito, who just joined the French club as a free agent this season.
Newcastle also were said to be interested in a loan deal for Chelsea defensive midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko who joined Monaco on loan late this summer. However, the 25-year-old is currently sidelined with an ankle injury.
We don’t see Newcastle still having an interest in any of these four players. However, Monaco is loaded with young talent so hopefully we are there to take a look at some of their top young players. Maybe we will see some new names emerge as possible future targets.
