This Man Did His Job And Has Won Our Aston Villa Poll

It was not too hard of a selection for Newcastle’s best player at Aston Villa on Monday. There were only a handful of players who put in notable performances.

Martin Dubravka was in fine form and made some crucial saves. Allan Saint-Maximin tried his best to create some in attack even if nothing really came off for the Frenchman. Jetro Willems also got forward while playing solid defensively.

That is far too little to to witness on a Monday night especially for the travelling fans. The lads just didn’t put it together and it feels like we’ve regressed since the win against Bournemouth.

However, Martin Dubravka does deserve some praise for keeping Newcastle in the game. The 30-year-old made some crucial stops on Ezri Konza and Wesley.

Our readers have selected the goalkeeper as the best Newcastle player from Monday’s defeat. Out of the 728 votes, Martin gathered 322 for 44%. It was a comfortable margin for the Slovakian.

Allan Saint-Maximin fails to win for the first time in three matches. He last poll Saint-Maximin didn’t top was the defeat at Chelsea which also went to Dubravka.

The 22-year-old collected 28% of the vote for a respectable second place this time around. Jetro Willems was a distant third with just 8% of the total votes.

We should start Gayle or Carroll against City if we are just going to launch it long every time we get it might as well have either Gayle to chase it or Carroll to try stick his head on it

#36 And people still SLAUGHTERING poor Joelinton, what hope does he have under Bruce!

Not only is the football not better, its FAR worse. Our defence isnt half as solid as it was last year. We went into matches fearing we wont score but I always went in confident of a clean sheet. That confidence is gone under Bruce.

We were never great at getting goals but we were still far more potent also under Rafa. Anyone who cant see that we have drastically regressed is blind!!!!
