Sporting Director Confirms Contract Standstill With Newcastle Target

Just a few weeks ago, Newcastle were said to have been watching Real Valladolid’s young center-back Mohammed Salisu.

The 20-year-old has been making a name for himself since coming into the first-team. He’s started all 14 games for the Spanish Club despite playing no league matches before this season.

The player is in high demand with numerous Premier League clubs having an interest in the young Ghanaian. Manchester United is the latest club to said to be tracking Salisu, whose agent is the father of Juan Mata.

Salisu just signed a new deal to 2022 this past May in which a £10m release clause was inserted. The club are now desperate to get the budding superstar on improved terms that will also help to raise his transfer fee.

Valladolid’s sporting director Real Angel Gomez has stated, however, that the youngster and his representatives are reluctant to redo his contract at the moment. This is what Gomez has said:

“Salisu perceives the love of the club because we have made three contracts in thirteen months.

“He knows that he is an important player and that we would like to proceed with that renewal, but today there is a standstill.”

If his current contract remains in place, Salisu could be had in January for the bargain price of just £10m. That seems like a great deal for a player who looks like he could thrive in the Premier League.

Might have guessed the bus would move!!

I was watching the political interview (there is a football connection so don’t skip yet) with Jonathon Bartley of the greens in the chair.

He was asked about the big disparity of wages in big companies with ManU being highlighted. He reckons the difference should be no greater than 10 to 1 with the lowest paid workers getting a minimum of a 10th of what the biggest earners get.

Sounds good to me and I’m sure that Gladys the tea lady at the Toon would be reasonably happy with £7k per week.

Don’t think he was talking about football per se as the top players get obscene amounts.

I would add that the Greens have some great ideas which do look workable and he comes across as one of the most believable of the party leaders, pity there’s not a green candidate in my area.

Do you ever wake up some days and think to yourself: you know what, today is the day I am going to stop.
    No, didn’t think so.

If ManU bought every player they were linked they’d need to field several EPL teams.

More than happy to talk about the greens ideas on the night shift if there’s any interest.

Wilder is a good shout. has absolute journeymen playing great pass and move football. Shame they couldn’t hold on against Manu.

I know you’re revelling in rafa having a bit of a dip but you must be doubly delighted at being 14th with bruce, no goal scorers and long ball, no possession football. It is exceeding all ashley lovers’ expectations.

Rotunda in fairness many before me on YouTube have highlighted just how good he is at it. But yea he really is top quality. It really just makes you wonder how easy it is to become a manager if guys like bruce can get premierleague jobs.

No its definitely Beegees mid 90’s I think. It’s a very catchy song tbf. It’s one of their less cheesy ones.

    so this weekend I’m predicting

    Watford draw
    Southampton draw
    Norwich win
    WestHam defeat
    Everton defeat
    Villa draw
Toon defeat (but hoping for more)
    Palace defeat
    Brighton defeat
This would drop us below Villa on GD to 15th but only 2 points from relegation place so we would really need to win against Sheff Utd ( which I’m trying to get ticket to )

Any other predictions out there for this weekend?

We cannot even speculate of scouting for anyone other than a defender. Coming back to reality, ending Dec with just 5 more points (LLDLDLW) seems to be a distinct possibility with what we have (i.e., goal scoring defenders and and a clueless midfield and offense). After two wins in a row for a moment I thought we may no longer be in relegation scrap; I could be wrong.

I woukdnt be complaining Rotunda. The style of football was nothing to write home about under Rafa either. That said i’d prefer him to Stevie Bruce.
