Just a few weeks ago, Newcastle were said to have been watching Real Valladolid’s young center-back Mohammed Salisu.
The 20-year-old has been making a name for himself since coming into the first-team. He’s started all 14 games for the Spanish Club despite playing no league matches before this season.
The player is in high demand with numerous Premier League clubs having an interest in the young Ghanaian. Manchester United is the latest club to said to be tracking Salisu, whose agent is the father of Juan Mata.
Salisu just signed a new deal to 2022 this past May in which a £10m release clause was inserted. The club are now desperate to get the budding superstar on improved terms that will also help to raise his transfer fee.
Valladolid’s sporting director Real Angel Gomez has stated, however, that the youngster and his representatives are reluctant to redo his contract at the moment. This is what Gomez has said:
“Salisu perceives the love of the club because we have made three contracts in thirteen months.
“He knows that he is an important player and that we would like to proceed with that renewal, but today there is a standstill.”
If his current contract remains in place, Salisu could be had in January for the bargain price of just £10m. That seems like a great deal for a player who looks like he could thrive in the Premier League.

Comment #42Jonjo figures on the cover of this weekends match programme, be a bit ironic if he’s only on the bench!
The programme costs £3, could have probably bought a season ticket for that when I starting going to games.
