Newcastle Against Manchester City – Poll Result, Prediction, and Injuries

Here is the team we predict Steve Bruce will send out for today’s match against Manchester City. It has four changes from the 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa from Monday. However, based on Steve Bruce’s comments during his press conference, we expect that Miguel Almiron will keep his place today which would leave Christian Atsu on the bench again.

We could see both Emil Krafth and Sean Longstaff make their returns today. Steve Bruce hinted that Longstaff could be involved as he is now available after his three-match ban.

DeAndre Yedlin is a doubt with a hip injury so Emil Krafth could get back into the team for the first time since September. Though he did make a late cameo against Manchester United in early October.

The one we think will definitely come back into the team is Fabian Schar. With Jamaal Lascelles being injured and Paul Dummett not faring too well against Aston Villa, it looks likely that the 27-year-old Swiss star will come back into the side.

Manchester City will be without Sergio Aguero due to a recent thigh injury and he joins three other Manchester City stars who will miss this out today.

Aguero usually finds the net against Newcastle so it is positive that he will miss out. Though it is not a serious injury for the Argentinian. Brazilian Gabriel Jesus will likely get the nod in Aguero’s place.

Newcastle Injuries

Matt Ritchie – ankle, Jamaal Lascelles – leg, Andy Carroll – ribs, DeAndre Yedlin – hip (late fitness test)

Manchester City Injuries

Sergio Aguero – thigh, Aymeric Laporte – knee, Leroy Sane – knee, Oleksandr Zinchenko – knee

Our poll results for this match are as you would expect considering the opponents and after the display on Monday. Of the 1,159 total votes, 878 are predicting a loss. Just 13% of those who took the poll see the lads pulling off the surprise win like last season.

What Will Be The Result Of Saturday's Match Against Manchester City?

  • Loss (76%, 878 )
  • Win (13%, 150 )
  • Draw (11%, 131 )

Total Voters: 1,159

Have to say I’m disappointed in the high percentage of “whingers” voting for a loss. 🙂 Vote Draw! If the players see this blog they won’t need the comments to drag them down, the winbar will do all the work. 😐

No GT. I just paid attention in English lessons. For a nation that prides itself in speaking only one language, it’s a bit painful when they can’t even master that.

On paper is doesn’t look good against City, but as long as the team shows some fighting spirit and we go down playing for the badge and away fans, I’m good with that.

But stranger things have happened and City could have one of those days where they fire blanks, Wolves beat them at City, why couldn’t we just have one of those games where we just click and some start scoring, finally.

Feel sorry for Dummett. When the defensive unit is not at it’s best, all the components suffer. Drafting in second choices that don’t work as well together means the back line gets pulled into positions it shouldn’t i feel that Dummett is a casualty of this, not that a solid player who has kept some of the best wingers in the league quiet at times has suddenly become rubbish.

I’d love be to know how the “Too defensive” clangers would explain how we would be effective defensively against the top clubs if we hadn’t drilled and perfected it in many other championship and pl matches first?

If we had been this out and out offensive team against the many many “lesser” teams, where would we suddenly dredge up this cohesive and solid defensive play when Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal rock up then?

We were top scorers and champions and way ahead of 3rd place in the champo so don’t think Rafa got that too wrong, mitro or no!!

    Jib

What would be interesting is if we had real genuine fans who didn’t defend Ashley at every turn or didn’t slag off legends like KK and Rafa. You don’t really have the pulse of the club do you.

Ashley drove out an elite coach and replaced him with the last name on anyone’s list
Ashley jettisoned our player of the season and replaced him with finally spendng some money on a 40M flop as he knew best.

Real fans who understand football have every right to complain and not put up with a t–t and total non entity like you who doesn’t get the club and the feelings of genuine fans at all but just hangs round like a bad smell boring everyone rigid with your self importance and desperate need to be noticed .

    What does duff mean?

Standing for designated ugly fat friend, duff is a rude, though often humorous term people use for that one friend who makes you look better…

GT don’t get offended at me I’m just trying to help. 😉

All I did was point out your use of a common mistake in English. Hardly intellectual stuff. Or is it?
