L’Equipe – GACP Buyout Initiated At Bordeaux As Fans Get Proactive

Late last week, it was reported that GACP Sports could be bought out of their shares in Ligue 1’s Bordeaux by majority shareholder King Street. L’Equipe is now indicating that the process has been initiated.

This tweet translates to:

Bordeaux: Main shareholder King Street has initiated the process to buy GACP shares.

This latest action follows a night of unrest on Monday at Bordeaux as ultras stormed the pitch during their match against Nimes. The fans had brought signs to protest the ownership and direction of the club. However, stewards had confiscated the banners prior to the match starting leading to the protest.

There is a report in La Tribune that the fans are happy with Joseph DaGrosa and that their anger is reserved for the majority shareholder King Street and club president Frederic Longuepee.

However, we found a tweet from Brunet Florian, who is the leader of a Bordeaux fan group called Ultramarines, that contradicts this reporting.

This tweet roughly translates to:

To those who still believe we are defending Da Grosa and Varela, we invite you to listen to all our latest communications. Dealing with them as crooks may not be strong enough because if the financial scam remains to be proven, the scam Moral is undeniable.

We are not sure of what financial scams Florian is referencing but there appears to be a lot of anger with the new ownership consortium of Bordeaux who just completed their takeover a little over a year ago.

Joesph DaGrosa (center)– soon to be bought out at Bordeaux?

If GACP Sports is bought out by King Street, we would expect Joseph DaGrosa to redouble his efforts to invest in another club. Ideally, that would be Newcastle United with Peter Kenyon if the funds can be raised and, most importantly, Ashley accepts an offer.

However, we are not sure what to make of the brewing anger with Bordeaux’s fan group. And we are left thinking of a couple of cliches like ‘be careful what you wish for’ and ‘the grass is always greener’.

I hate Ashley as much as the next man, but could we end up with someone even worse and start wishing for Fat Ash to come back? Highly unlikely, but not totally impossible!

For anyone wondering, or if clarification is needed – comments containing explicit sexual content such as what was posted earlier today by IrishRob are not appropriate for, nor are they welcome on this blog. The aforementioned comment has since been removed by Neil.

Good for you in acting on IrishBob’s inappropriate post. Let’s hope it puts out a warning to others who are inclined to post similar profanities.

Take heed Jiblets, it could be you next.

Good evening young lady and we trust you’re well.

Oh, and don’t come the not so young bit – you have a healthy outlook on life. Enjoy it.

Like to see Lejeune, Carroll, Muto, Gayle, KiSy and Lobby start tomorrow night. Away to Sheffield United, why not?

Muto and Gayle are both capable of playing the Almiron and St Max roles, albeit slightly differently, and we need rotate to protect against injury and fatigue during this hectic month ahead, as well as give a few players their chance to show the manager their worth.

Greater composure in attack, although certainly not as quick.

The Wife, fair play for the actions and the comments, but I think a rap accross the knucles is enough here. I would argue his comments earlier are unchatecteristic. We all have a bad day now and again. I dont often agree with IrishRob, but generally dont have any issue with his opinions.

The Wife – much appreciated. I think IrishRob is maybe on the younger side and hasn’t quite learned what is socially appropriate. I hope Neil’s actions help to curb his recent outbursts.

Yeah, it’ll be interesting to see the side he puts out. Nothing wrong with the 11 that started on the weekend, other than the goal shy attack, but still close to our best side. However in Muto and Gayle we have a couple of players who we know can finish, but we play with two wider withdrawn attackers, behind a lone central striker, so neither is gonna play up top, because we have Joel and Andy, but they could contribute in the Miggy and St Max positions, particularly if we push the wing backs on and can get them on the ball in advanced positions, with Scharr and Lejeune looking to hit them early with those raking cross field balls they are so well capable of.

SFB, the other thing I think we need to take into account is a different set of standards. I remember my 2nd Tour of Northern Ireland in the late 80s being introduced to RTE kids TV, hosted by Zig n Zag. Nearly everything they said was responded with (pardon the French) ‘Bollox ya tw@t’ which is perfectly acceptable for young children over there, but very much after 9pm over here. Different mindset and rules. Not defending the earlier comments, but defending the man.

Your first Christmas meal. Only 20 more to go until you can have your, errr…. Christmas lunch, dinner or whatever you have.

It’s that time of the year when things are done to excess – NUFC takeover talk, who’ll we buy or not buy, relegated or Champions League (well, that was just a thought). But life goes on on at Newcastle United – same old same old.

Despite tarquin the hectoring lecturer slagging me off for questioning Bruce’s appointment of shelvey as captain (anyone noticed how tarquin is now subtley trying to hedge his bets re Bruce and siding with him despite wanting him hung originally) I still think its fair comment to question both shelveys appointment and his suitability for some games due to his lack of speed over the ground. I’m more worried about his pace than his ability to lead. Potentially nasty game tomorrow with Les Mis out in force. I’m not too confident but I think the villa mess might help us tomorrow? If we win tsunki might change from his scum avatar. Doubt it. He still needs Bruce to win him a trophy, like kk and Bobby did. What a spoilt bitch.

IrishRob on the younger side? Probably. His patter sounds like a juvenile trying to be something he’s not.

For crying out loud, didn’t he post something about wowing the girls when wearing a Ralph Lauren polo neck sweater with an Armarni blazer? Was he trying to make out he’s Val Doonican? Hallo there! 🙂

I think Ed, The Wife and Neil should consider introducing yellow and red cards for posts. Straight red for that one Rob. See you in a week.

Maybe set Kasper to work on a VAR type system too.

Nicky we all want the team to move further up the pitch but easier said than done and our central midfield badly lacks pace and running power. Injuries to our two speedster wud murder us

G – if you take a look at IrishRob’s posts for the last few days he’s been a bit over the top and at times childish in his behavior. Not sure what the lad’s deal is but it’s been inappropriate. To be fair some of the supposed ‘older’ people on here have been a bad influence, but that’s no excuse. I just hope he’s able to come back tomorrow and debate about football in a more civilised manner.

lesh – he started arguing with me about the spelling of the word ‘whoosh’ for some reason. Called me a ‘dope’ for spelling it with an ‘h’ and insisted it was spelled ‘woosh’, which he seemed to find on Urban Dictionary online I’m guessing. He then went on to repeatedly calling me a ‘ballsac’, at which point I gave up and figured I’d let him calm down a bit!

Munster – I don’t think it would be appropriate to discuss what IrishRob said earlier to me, but it was definitely uncalled for and not something we should be reading on Ed’s blog. Rob has been a bit out of control for the last day or two so I’m hoping he comes back tomorrow willing to discuss what we’re all here to talk about – our beloved club!

I know we all have our opinions and disagreements but there’s a right way and a wrong way to debate and interact and Rob unfortunately went over the line earlier today. It’s good to see that what we’re saying is being monitored for decency and content 🙂

Anyhoo, back to the article. I’d be very interested to see what these allegations are against DaGrosa and why it’s affected his ownership with Bordeaux and their fans. There’s no smoke without fire, as they say, so it’s worth watching. Surely there are other people out there willing to put us out of our misery and buy the club from Ashley?

Personally, I think Mike is making it almost impossible to make a sale work due to his free advertising and all that Premier League and tv money coming in every season. It seems like his biggest income and something that’s guaranteed every year providing we don’t get relegated. Minimum investment to retain our league status would appear to be his business model for our club.
