Yesterday, it was revealed that Newcastle were trying to beat out Juventus and Everton for Portuguese wonderkid Matchoi Djalo.
In August, the 16-year-old winger became the youngest player ever to play in Portugal’s top flight and is thought to be one of Portugal’s top prospects.
Sport Witness have now cited outlets in Portugal that Juventus have recently bid €3m for the Pacos de Ferreira youngster. However, that fee is just over half of his reported €5m release clause.
The Portuguese club is very willing to make a deal for Djalo. According to Sport Witness, Pacos De Ferreira president Paulo Meneses has claimed that the club is willing to negotiate with any club interested in the exciting prospect.
If Newcastle are interested in the winger, they may need to act fast and put in a bid. It doesn’t look like the Juventus bid has been rejected yet, and the Portuguese club may be holding out for a bidding war to ensue.
Though we can’t see Newcastle willing to pay up to €5m for a 16-year-old no matter how much potential he could have. Also with Juve sniffing about, that seems the more likely destination for Djalo.
A more realistic target could be Carlisle defender Jarrad Branthwaite who is reportedly valued at just £1m. Newcastle also have the right of first refusal for the 17-year-old as part of the Elias Sorensen loan deal.

Comment #3I think I’ve included him in the running total already!
If we did sign him he probably wouldn’t get a (1st team) game for about 4 years! He’d be better off going to Juventus.

Comment #4The issue Newcastle have looking at potential players for the club is the youth don’t get a real sniff and are stuck in the youth set up way to long.
If I’m a player I don’t want to move somewhere to go backwards and then loaned out to lower league teams.
One manager in the Prem set the bar with youth players and it worked out well by giving them a chance which they all took, that would be Sir Alex.

Comment #5Neil: the despondent picture of Bruce didn’t go well with a message as upbeat as possible that you persevered to give in your previous article.
Oh, and EGB: I am itching for a fight. Just in honor of those who went down fighting.

I’m a bit too decrepit now for the physical side of a fight but could probably manage a fair line in swearing and insults, although to be honest I’m probably a bit too courteous to be much of a challenge! 🙂

Comment #13Bottom feeders are climbing. I thought Southampton and Everton could be handled relatively easy. But Southampton has managed to engage a gear. Everton might as well with impending replacement of manager.
We need to start functioning ourselves. We have the resources. Things may work out once the team gets a proper setup.

Comment #15JohnJ, if you’re after a stream, just sign up to Amazon Prime – you get a month’s free trial, all the footy over the Christmas period and free delivery on anything you order from them.
If you cancel in January, it’s cost you nowt and you won’t have to click through a bajillion pop-up ads every time you try to alter the volume.

Comment #18I’ll repost this nearer to kick-off, but if you’re in the UK and have Amazon Prime you can watch the match tonight live for free as they are streaming it. If you have Amazon movies on your telly or similar device (e.g. Now TV), you can watch it from there. Some sort of collaboration with BT Sport that I only discovered last night when I was looking for a good movie and ended up watching the Merseyside derby for free. You’ll also be able to watch a replay of the full match for 30 days or so.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/video/storefront/ref=atv_nb_sf_epl?contentType=tournament&contentId=amzn1.dv.icid.d338e2ae-502e-425c-ac0a-535024f9946e
They’re also planning to show our Boxing Day match at ManUre. I have Amazon Prime anyway – very useful at Christmas time – but you can also sign up to the 30day trial for free, as long as you remember to cancel. Thus you’d get tonight’s match and the ManUre match for free.
I’m not trying to advertise Amazon. Just highlighting where you can watch our matches easily.

Save some legs in Hayden, give Almiron and Joelinton a night to come off the bench for 20

the reason it is 12.31 is for mental health awareness..

Comment #29Right, so what is it gonna be:
a. We turn up and play a cracker with some of our misfiring front three grabbing some goals, VAR results on our side and they possibly have a player sent off?
or
b. Proper stinker with our plan ripped up in the first 14 mins and no idea how to cope. Couple of injuries, a red card and two late goals with VAR ruling one out?
NUFC don’t do things easy but it is the season of miracles so I’m going to go for………a 1 -1 draw lol.
No idea what will happen but I have my fingers crossed and I am looking forward to watching it.

Comment #30Tragic indication of the mad world of football.
That’s an awful lot of food for a food bank.
Maybe just as well he didn’t hook up with Ashley and his habits.
Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend says he once lost £46,000 in one night but being charged by the FA for betting “probably saved me as a human being”.
Townsend, 28, says a mixture of an addictive personality and boredom while on numerous loan spells away from Tottenham contributed to his gambling.

the reason k.o. is 12.31 is for mental health awareness….
which is of course a worthy proposal
“Fans will be encouraged to consider the positive impact 60 seconds can have on their own wellbeing or in supporting a friend or family member.”
but then you have to watch NUFC in a cup match against the minnows for 90 minutes or more….that’s never very good for our well being !

If only someone would give us a handy blog-based countdown. Maybe someone in the South East of England, possibly retired so they have enough time to consider it properly for accuracy etc.
Otherwise we’ll all probably miss the entire thing!

I suppose over the last 12 years and the lack of hope, shirt sales have dwindled
