Starlet Scouted In November To Sign A New Deal With Ligue 1 Club?

Newcastle reportedly had scouts in Bordeaux late last month to watch Les Girondins take on Monaco.

Bordeaux won 2-1 in a game that had a goal and a straight red for former Newcastle striker Islam Slimani. The Algerian, on loan with Monaco from Leicester City, has been outstanding in Ligue 1 with 6 goals and 7 assists in his 10 appearances.

However, Newcastle were not there to watch the 31-year-old striker. They were likely there to take a look at 18-year-old Monaco center-back Benoit Badiashile.

The 6’4″ French u-19 international broke into the first-team last season while he was just 17-years-old. He’s already played 39 times for Monaco.

He signed his first professional contract in February 2018. There is now a report in Get French Football News that he is in talks for an improved deal.

The youngster is already valued at close to £30m per some reports and is being tracked by some of Europe’s top clubs. So Badiashile is likely a bridge too far for Newcastle as they look to improve the quality in the Academy. However, we do have our eyes on some top youngsters which is always a positive sign.

Badiashile is just one of a few teenagers that Newcastle have reportedly been out to watch. We’re heavily linked with Carlisle’s Jarrad Branthwaite and yesterday had scouts watch West Brom’s Rayhaan Tulloch in a Premier League 2 match.

We hope to see two or three brought into the club next month. It should be a priority to get this Academy stocked with budding talent.

We need a damn striker, why are we always looking at central defenders.

Unless of course it’s all bullshit, surely not, not at Newcastle United.

its all very well scouting all these players but its the signing of them that seems to be the problem.while local kids go else where,
leeds have just opened a satellite academe in middlesbrough and are now looking to expand into north tyneside hoovering up what local talent they can from under the clubs nose

They way we operate in the transfer market is pretty pathetic. First, it is hard to find anyone fitting Ashley’s budget. Then we’re slow to wrap things up. We scouted Aubameyang: didn’t work. We scouted van Dijk; didn’t work either. That Aubameyang chose to go to Dortmund seemed fair but van Dijk’s ending up in Southampton instead of us was difficult to take.
