New Details Emerge On Deal For Loan Star

There have been a few revelations pertaining to Newcastle’s option on Jetro Willems. The 25-year-old is on a season-long loan from Frankfurt with a view to a permanent deal if Newcastle decide to pull the trigger on that option.

The amount of the agreed fee has widely been reported at £9.3m or €11m. However, that may not quite be accurate. The Chronicle are reporting that it is a little higher than that amount.

This is how they interpret the agreement on the deal Newcastle have with Frankfurt:

The price is actually “to the north” of the £10million fee mentioned, according to those with knowledge of the agreement struck in the summer between United and the Bundesliga side.

There seems to be a lot of uncertainty regarding the amount of money it will take to keep Jetro. Earlier this year, there were some reports the fee could be as low as £5m.

While “to the north” is not a very precise description of the fee, the phrasing leads us to believe that it is not too much higher than £10m. To be honest, any amount up to £15m would be a steal for a player of Jetro’s caliber.

The report also gives us an idea of the timeframe in which Willems can become a permanent member of the squad. According to the Chronicle, the option to buy Jetro does not become active until April.

However, it also states that Newcastle may opt to renegotiate that date to sign Jetro permanently in sooner. There doesn’t appear to be any rush to do that, and Jetro seems very happy with how things have progressed for him at Newcastle.

He’s been an outstanding addition to the team, and hopefully, he’ll be here for many years to come.

    I’m not bitter
I’m overjoyed at the thought of all that money Jabba has bled from us
At all of those shops we bought him

I hope he ends us as a club just to squeeze out every last penny and out of pure spite

    I’m lovin it.

call yourself a NEWCASTLE FAN …

To the north of the 10 million reads like 10 million to me raher than 9.3 albeit 700k could scupper the deal given how Charnley / Ashley negotiate

He has looked great in some games but recently hes looked heavy legged possibly due to the amount of games and running hes been asked to do?

Ideally we would be able to rotate him with Richie which is actually really good depth to have when both are fit!

Mindshaft – As I say on DD your first payment for next season starts 1st April and it takes them a month to sort out admin so if you want to cancel you have to inform them by about the end of February. Last year we had just beaten Man City, signed Miggy and it looked like Rafa was staying so it was quite an easy decision – this year however…………!

geordietom @1 – not worth getting upset over – I’m convinced he is multiple people with a bit of ‘Bot’ automatic replies added to the mix – just ignore him/her/it!

@martoon – fair point although I’m talking about the 40% or so that will be new season tickets next season where people will be hanging on to see what happens over summer and unlikely to buy or renew until they see something happen – both our points relevant though 🙂

that’s good advice from martoon, best to just ignore him skip his posts it really is doing you no good getting so upset.

i think most of us on here are nufc fans but even among 100% rock solid fans there are divisions on whats the best course of action, i think the only thing we all agree on is Ashley is the problem, but till he’s gone the bickering will continue,

I log on to nufcblog.com everyday unless I’m somewhere without an internet connection!

I love to keep up to date with all things related to Newcastle United but the one thing that turns me off on the blog is the constant bickering.

I agree with a lot of the comments and have come to respect many posters and I also often disagree with some others who seem to be from a different planet……. but I know who to follow and “Heart” and often wish there was a Un=heart option! I know we’ve been down that road and it seems it’s not an option but it would be a good way of saying Naw I don’t agree with that mate!

But come on lads & lasses show a bit of respect eh?
