Three Magpies Make Shearer’s Team Of The Week

For the second time this season, Alan Shearer has selected three Newcastle players in his team of the week. He also selected three players for our draw against Manchester City.

This week it’s goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, goal scorer Miguel Almiron, and the surprise of the three is Paul Dummett at left-back. Paul had some issues with his deliveries, but he worked his socks off, getting up and down the left.

Newcastle players have become a steady presence in Alan’s weekly selections since we started our great run at West Ham. In the 8 games since then, we’ve managed 5 wins and the massive draw against Man City.

Though we’ve had the two slip-ups at Aston Villa and Burnley, it’s still been a terrific run. The lads have been able to get the wins despite not always being at their best.

It’s great that they get recognition from a Newcastle icon like Alan Shearer. Hopefully, they’ll keep putting in the displays that are worthy of the accolades.

Weird that Manquillo wasn’t in his team?

Jib (previous) – why are you so bitter and twisted?

I don’t pay a penny to any company on that list, you obviously do. Grow some balls and stand up to what you really believe in – mark my words there’ll be some interesting stuff coming out over the next month or so about what the fat twat has actually done to the Club you purport to love.

Dummett was good defensive and actually good at getting into decent postions to deliver a cross(although i do wonder if Palace just wernt that fussed about him because they knew he was so awful in any attacking sense, best i hoped for was a defender would block any attempted cross out for a corner)

Man utd are all over the shop at home these days and old triffid isn’t the fortress it used to be by a lang chark! I’m going for a 1-2 reverse, go a goal down early doors then level with Willems just before half time (if he plays) and Miggy to follow up with the winner on the 78 minute mark. Sorry to be so vague it’s the best I can do. 🙂

Jabba thinks he can use his PR to string along the fans forever
Owning us has put him in the public eye, hes going to find out what that can do to his already bad reputation

    I still don’t get it
Ashley sells cheap shite to shit-heads
    So what
    It made him a billionaire
The owners of Man City are multi billionaires
because of a geological discovery on their
    territory.
Their human rights record is diabolical
    So what

Tsunki I think you are finally seeing my logic and we agree on some issues.
    – rafa’s flaws are finally being debated in a reasoned manner, like any manager’s shud be
    – Bruce is no mourinho or Bobby robson
    – he has worse strikers than rafa but is doing marginally better but has benefitted from St max, although not sure rafa wud have St max near the team
    – both men play pretty similar football
    -Ashley is the issue
    – rafa shud be here still but he rows with all chairmen. In my opinion to curry favour from the fans a lá Robin Hood.
    – Bruce deserved the breathing space I asked for at the start.
    – Bruce, as every journo is saying, deserves credit, so far

Rafa is pragmatic. He’ll play in a way that best suits the players he has at his disposal, looking primarily to gain as many points as he can, and he’s good at it. Give him a team with great attacking talent, you’ll see expansive football, and the ball wizzing around the pitch. Not so much, you’ll see his side focussed more on shutting down the ball and compressing play. But either way, there will always be shape, running and discipline, and he expects his owners to run the club efficiently and support him. He’s a hard act to follow, and he should still be here. Bruce is playing a similar way. I’m sure he’d like to be more entertaining, but he’ll need the proper backing to reshape the squad if he is to do it successfully, backing Rafa never got.

It doesn’t matter who the manager is, if you support Newcastle, you’ll back him. I didn’t want Dalglish, or Sounness, or a couple of others come to that, but it shouldn’t affect your support.
You don’t get to pick owners either – money does. I don’t know anybody who likes Ashley, but then, we don’t go to watch Ashley. And anybody saying the players don’t care, simply isn’t watching. You support the team through thick and thin or you don’t. That’s it.
35k fans came out of nowhere when KK teamed up with SJH, so it’s no surprise some have now dropped off as we were playing great then. As for those who stopped after a few years of Ashley, do me a favour please.
You backed the wrong horse, admit it. Stop this BS “I love NUFC so much I have to stop going”, it’s embarrassing.
If you’ve cut all ties with NUFC – because you love it so much – why do you have to keep telling us over and over and over again? Who you trying to convince, us or yourselves? Go. Don’t go. Nobody gives a toss.
