Newcastle United At Manchester United – Poll Result, Team Prediction, And Injuries

This is the team we predict Steve Bruce will select for today’s match at Old Trafford. It has four changes from the win against Crystal Place. If we guess this lineup correctly, it will indeed be a Christmas miracle because this match is a hard one to predict with Everton looming on Saturday.

We really don’t know what Bruce is thinking in terms of team selection over the next ten days where we have four matches. He’ll likely go the cautious route on a few players rather than risk them suffering long-term injuries.

We’d like to see the Longstaff brothers get a game in midfield together again. Though it’s a tough ask at Old Trafford especially with Paul Pogba back in their team.

Steve Bruce– if we win today

The injury situation is still pretty woeful with what could be up to seven ruled out. Though three of them could pass late fitness tests and be involved.

Manchester United are in a lot better shape than when they traveled to St James Park in October but still are missing a couple players.

Newcastle Injuries

Matt Ritchie – ankle, Jamaal Lascelles – fibula, Allan Saint-Maximin – hamstring, Ciaran Clark – calf, Ki Sung-yueng – illness (late fitness test), Paul Dummett – groin (late fitness test), Jetro Willems – knee (late fitness test).

Manchester United Injuries

Marcos Rojo – undisclosed, Eric Bailly – knee, Timothy Fosu-Mensah – knee, Axel Tuanzebe – thigh (late fitness test).

Our poll for this match is very close. It’s a coin flip between victory and defeat according to the voters. Of the 2,116 votes, 729 think we’ll get all three points and jump Man U in the table. That’ll be 4 wins in 5 games. Steve Bruce will have a smile on his face to rival the Joker if that happens.

On the flip side, 720 think we’ll lose this one which will prove the many pundits correct. There’s also quite a few that are predicting we come away with a point. That would be a decent result in our book.

However, we can win this one but things will have to continue to go our way. We’ll likely see someone brought in who hasn’t played much recently, we’ll need them to channel Federico Fernandez and Javier Manquillo and put in a top performance.

What Will Be The Result At Manchester United On Thursday?

  • Win (34%, 729 )
  • Loss (34%, 720 )
  • Draw (32%, 667 )

Total Voters: 2,116

I cannot see us getting anything today. Man Utd will want a response from their Watford horror show. If ASM was playing I’d fancy our chances to get something but we don’t have enough going forward.

Just looking slightly ahead. Willems back from injury would be good but seeing as how Ritchie is out and dummett is injured too, it’s going to be difficult to see willems come through unscathed v Man Utd and v Everton in a short space on time.

On a coach from the Toon to Birmingham..
Think it will be a draw at OT this evening,1.1, to carry on our great,if unexpected, start.
