Midfielder Wants ‘To Put It Right’ Against Everton After Disappointing Display

After yesterday’s disappointing loss, Steve Bruce had little to grasp onto as a positive from the match. However, there was the excellent goal by Matty Longstaff in the 17th minute.

Bruce had this to say about the 19-year-old:

“He’s played four times and scored twice against Man United. He’s got a bright future, we know that. He’s tenacious and wants to do well.”

It was a great goal for a player who has shown a flair for the dramatic thus far in his fledgling career. Matty spoke to NUFC TV after the match. The youngster was clearly disappointed with the result and performance.

Young Matty was asked three times about his goal, but he was having none of it. His response was to minimize the goal and to make it clear that the performance wasn’t good enough. It was a mature interview from the youngster.

The midfielder is now looking forward to the Everton match on Saturday, which is looming as a massive one after yesterday’s Premier League results.

It’s also the first match of the second half of the season. We’ve finished the first half in 10th place, which is a good start. This is what Matty had to say when asked about the decent start to the season.

“Yeah, exactly. We’ve been on a good run until today.

“The good thing for us is in 48 hours we’ve got the chance to put it right against Everton.

“We’ve got a good changing room in there. We’ve got some big characters, and I’m sure we’ll be ready come Saturday.”

Bruce has been able to get a response from the lads after some poor performances this season. We’ll need him to do just that tomorrow. A loss will see Everton jump above us in the league on goal difference, and we’ll have 18th place like baying hounds on our trail.

If we can put it right against Everton, as Matty says, we can look at the Manchester United result as just a minor blemish. However, a second straight loss could be the start of something a lot more troubling.

We think the lads can put it right tomorrow but we could be in for a very nervy game.

How Will Newcastle Do Against Everton On Saturday?

  • Win (38%, 520 )
  • Lose (37%, 517 )
  • Draw (25%, 348 )

Think I’ve just recovered from yesterday’s result. We certainly gifted them at least 2 of the goals.

I thought Mctominaly deserved a second yellow when Almiron made a full of him.

Dubravka was out of sorts, I like him but think he needs stronger competition. Either from Woodman if we can keep him or maybe Butland who is being linked with a move.

Schar was awful yesterday and has been since he returned from injury. Clark’s been missed at the back which I never thought I’d say as I had him down as our 6th best centre back.

I still think offloading Gayle in Jan is a must. Would rather have Muto in the side.

On Carrick and the Longstaffs, it wasn’t idle speculation, I’ve had it virtually from the horse’s mouth that he’s been tapping up our lads for months.

Time to give Muto a chance. Give him 5 full games before we get rid. He’ll end up scoring like mad at his next club probably.

Never play Joelinton up front on his own again. Play him on the wing or just behind the striker. Sign at least 4 players in January. Bowen, Sissoko, Rony Lopes and Morelos. Maybe Mateta as well. Spend £100m and recoup about £60m by selling Hayden, Sean Longstaff, Dummett, Rob Elliot, Krafth and Dwight Gayle. I’d take £7m for Manquillo too. Get Sebastien Corchia in as cover.

Just for nothing, my son used to call “September” by E.W.& F.. “farty-arse”.

What’s the point! We’re a top class club in the Premier league but we’ve got second rate players who, quite honestly would struggle in the Championship!
It’s only an excellent team spirit and normally a well drilled defence, built by Rafa that’s got us where we are!
Unfortunately this is not sustainable and we are going to be on a relegation fight again this season.
The manager doesn’t have a plan and isn’t capable of changing the system when we are getting hammered!
All this because of the owner who spent £60 million on two very average players.
    Very depressing!

    From Wiki
Allee Willis was initially bothered by the gibberish “ba-dee-ya” lyric White used through the song, and begged him to rewrite it: “I just said, ‘What the f**k does ‘ba-dee-ya’ mean?’ And he essentially said, ‘Who the f**k cares?’ I learned my greatest lesson ever in song writing from him, which was never let the lyric get in the way of the groove.”

Let’s not hammer the Longstaff bros eh? They need a bit of experience around them, careful handling and good coaching (!?)
Pitching both in together in CM at Old Trafford is a bit of a stretch and expectations too high I think.

Both promising players with some developing to do yet. Patience and support required

We get a few good results where we’ve had some good fortune and defenders played out of their skin.
But it never gets us anywhere!
For 13 years this owner has taken the p1ss out of us. The sad thing is he’s a relatively young man and could be around “forever” as he hinted not long ago!
I’m beginning to think I’ll be long gone before our great club does justice to the city! But it will be there, long after the cursed Ashley is gone!
