Steve Bruce earlier confirmed that Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark, and Paul Dummett will be out for Wednesday’s match against Leicester City.
The head coach has drafted young Kelland Watts in to train with the first-team today. Kelland had been on loan at Stevenage but has been recalled recently.
Newcastle released images from today’s training session which can be seen here. Kelland Watts is featured in several of the images.
In the introduction to the pictures, the club confirm that the 19-year-old has returned from Stevenage and is training with the first team.
Watts had a successful loan spell with the League Two club until he injured himself in the First Round of the FA Cup against Peterborough in early November. He was forced to leave the match early after a rash challenge for which he was cautioned.
Kelland Watts– back at Newcastle
Watts made a total of 19 appearances while on loan playing in four different positions – center-back, midfield, right-back, and left-wing.
Due to his versatility, we could see Kelland in the match-day squad on Wednesday as he would be able to cover a number of positions. In last season’s finale, Watts was on the bench for the 4-0 win at Fulham along with another young defender, Lewis Cass.
The 20-year-old local lad signed a long-term deal with Newcastle on November 7th. He’s also been capped twice for England at the U19 level.
What Will Be The Result Against Leicester City On New Year's Day?
- Loss (71%, 1,193 )
- Win (16%, 264 )
- Draw (13%, 223 )

Jib …that was not an insignificant win against Fulham in Rafas last match ..
Was it Fulham played off the park …0 v 5 Newcastle United ?
And a brilliant performance ?
And a question for you ..in saying what you said #10 ..why would a real Newcastle United fan decry, play down, rubbish, put down, call it insignificant a fantastic win away like you just have ?
Jib , if your working for Ashleys admin PR side your doing a bad job of hiding it.

Comment #45Online, don’t denigrate my support of nufc. I have supported this club loyally from Ireland since I was a kid. When there was zero incentive and no reward to do so. I have travelled to loads of matches when living in the UKandhad some great weekends in the Toon as well. Moreover I don’t need a lecture of Ashley. I know he’s a pig as much as the next fan. But I won’t hang Bruce for taking the job and I’m sure many on here were too swift to bin him, before he started equalling and beating rafa’s first half last year. But he gets some abuse on here. We even had one guy annoyed after we beat sheff utd.! I didn’t ask for Bruce, but I asked the haters to give him a chance. Simple really.

I was probably a tad strong towards you at # 16 .
It’s not your fault I know, it’s more geographic’s .
I’m sure you would not have missed a match if you had been living here or on the mainland and attending home and away .
I’m probably just trying to give you an inkling of feelings running high over here and feeling it because of what we have invested emotionally.. not just money , only to have the sense of supporting a real club with Ambition taken , all taken, away from us because of one disgusting Man.
Ten thousand free seats and real supporters who know what he is doing to the club in driving those real supporters, who have invested millions of pounds over the years, away, as they see through this greedy man.

I think that you’ll find that Munster would agree with everything you say in comment 27 as he is a REAL Toon supporter.
I’m surprised that you have to join in with the bully boys who take a open delight in having a go at him at any little thing he says regarding R ( the R word) whether it’s criticism or praise.
I’ve always found his comments in the main reasoned and sensible but if people are going to openly insult him every time he makes a comment then you can’t blame him for responding in a similar manner.
I don’t know who started it but surely it’s time to let it go an act like proper grown ups, if that’s possible!
Incidentally Catchy was another who got the same treatment for what people perceived what he said rather than what he actually said.

Ashley has played the Newcastle United supporters for fools.
We see Bruce as his yes man ..although a think Bruce is a decent bloke we are now seeing him in interviews towing (JIB) the party line.
I see that as taking the piss out of Geordies he knows he can’t fool.

They had an opportunity to finish above their rivals for the first time in 26? years, the players may well have not turned up but it was not a dead rubber to them. As for people slating the former manager now, very easy as you looked pretty stupid doing it while results were going well and played decent football.
Jib,
Are you seriously holding that defeat against Lpool against him, we gave them the fright of their lives in one of the most electric atmospheres SJP has seen in recent times.

Comment #56Anybody that thinks the likes of Bowen or anybody else of that ilk would be coming to Sports Direct FC need a serious reality check. The parasite thinks there’s no chance of relegation therefore nothing will be spent in January except maybe some peanuts for the under 23 squad. The club is run on a shoestring budget and doesn’t exist as a sporting enterprise,it’s only goal is to achieve 17th with as little financial outlay as possible.
