There is a report from Sky Sports that Newcastle will look to bring in another striker as well as a winger next month.
The report also says that Jarrod Bowen remains a key target while the Telegraph asserts that the winger would be willing to move Newcastle next month.
While Hull are emphatic that Bowen won’t leave in January, if they receive a bid in the £20m range, it’ll be difficult for them to hold onto the 23-year-old if he wants the move.
Jarrod Bowen– will be in demand next month
It doesn’t look like Bowen is in any hurry to sign the three-year contract Hull put on the table in October. So Newcastle should test their will with a decent bid and see where it goes.
Of course, the prolific winger is now being tracked by some top Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham, and Leicester City. However, he would be a better fit at Newcastle where he’ll be able to get more games.
Another player that has come up again is Genk striker Mbwana Samatta. He was linked throughout the summer and, according to the Telegraph, is on the shortlist of attackers for next month.
Mbwana Samatta– could he now be a top transfer target
With his release clause being just £10m, he’s one that would be well within the budget. The 27-year-old striker has scored 10 goals this season. Last season he bagged a very impressive 32 goals for Genk.
He’s pushing the limits of the age policy but could be deemed a bargain with his low release clause. Samatta also is the skipper for Tanzania, where he’s been capped 51 times, scoring 18 goals.
These are two realistic targets for next month. Bruce will have to move out a player for each incoming. We think Ki Sung-yueng will be one that will leave for first-team football. That would open up a spot for Bowen.
Samatta would only be brought in if either Dwight Gayle or Yoshinori Muto was moved along. Funds for either of those strikers could then be used for the Tanzanian as well as opening up a squad place.
We think Newcastle will have to be flexible on their £15m valuation of Dwight Gayle in order to move him out in January. We’re not sure of how much Muto could fetch after barely featuring over the last year and a half.
Muto’s fee probably would be less than the £9m we paid for him in 2018. Of the two, we think it would be best to sell Dwight Gayle as he would bring in a higher fee and there’s still a chance Muto can make it at Newcastle.

Comment #1We only paid CP £10m for Dwight Gayle
with him approaching 30 – £15m seems a bit much

Comment #2It would be interesting if we got Adam Lallana and Alfredo Morelos this Jan, I always thought Lallana was a player we should have gone after years ago and Morelos seems to be a solid striker.

Comment #3Lallana would be a really good and interesting signing for us. But could we prise him away in Jan, and surely he is too old and wages too high for our policy?

Comment #7If we loan Lallana from Liverpool would he still not get a medal if they won the league.
He would still be a Liverpool player right?
Not sure, but sounds right.

As you well know I was referring to the incident when the club hoyed out the flags left after the game before they could be collected as pre arranged
There was a picture of them in a skip
The club had insisted they leave them behind and collect later due to safety concerns
Shocking bad PR you conveniently forgot about

Comment #23Luke Edwards’s supposedly saying that Brucie wants to bring three in in January and Ashley and his crew have said they’d back him – provided the players Bruce wants are the right players.
Err, who going to decide whether Brucie’s choices are the right players?

I probably will but am still unsure as to whether it will be a new decade, surely 2010 is part of the old decade still?
I seem to recall similar arguments with the Dawn of the year 2000.

Comment #28“The clubs’s Head of Recruitment Steve Nickson has drawn up a list of potential recruits and has held a series of meetings with Bruce and managing director Lee Charnley.
But while most of his names are from the Continent, it’s understood Bruce would prefer to sign players from the domestic market”

Comment #31When it comes to Newcastle we make most players look poor, Joelinton clearly is a good player, just made a poor choice joining a club who average like 30 % possession and have played him out of position where he is almost always isolated for the majority of his time here.

Comment #32It was widely reported/inferred/suggested that Rafa pushed for Carr to be ousted. Has anything ever been said about Nickson’s appointment? Rafa wanted control of transfers I thought, so when did Nickson arrive/attain so much power. It is at least a year or longer ago, but he sort of just appeared without fanfare. Was it woth Rafa’s approval, pr anotherbthing to push him towards the exit?

Cheers. Rafa didn’t always have final say though I don’t think though. It seemed fairly clear Muto wasn’t one he had final say.
You are right though, I doubt Bruce will get as much say, but hopefully enough to get Nickson to put forward the right type of player.
