Is This Attacking Midfielder On Newcastle’s Radar?

Newcastle have had scouts watching Porto several times this season. On three occasions, there have been reports of Newcastle scouts attending Porto matches, most recently in November.

Two of those matches were against Vitoria Setubal, while one was against the mighty Benfica. While Newcastle were likely watching several players, a name has come up in the Chronicle that could have something in it.

Otavio is a 24-year-old attacking midfielder who joined Porto in 2014 from Brazilian club Internacional. He can also play on either wing and has spent a lot of time this season on the right side of midfield.

The Brazilian has made 123 appearances for Porto with 13 goals and 27 assists. He is also a client of the ROGON Agency, like his compatriot Joelinton.

The report in the Chronicle has him as one of five players the bookies are tipping Newcastle to sign next month. They have his odds at 10/1.

Otavio– Porto attacking midfielder watched by Newcastle

Otavio has a release clause in the €50-60m depending on various sources. However, he hasn’t reached the vast heights of his initial promise when he first signed for Benfica, so his value would likely be a lot less.

Yesterday, there were reports that Newcastle were looking at a winger and a striker for next month. Earlier this year, it was a box to box type midfielder that was said to be high on Bruce’s winter wishlist.

It could be that Newcastle is making a concerted effort to find another Brazilian to come in. We have scouted Gremio winger Everton Soares recently as well.

We expect the links to keep coming this month with the window opening today. Hopefully, Newcastle will be very active as we are in dire need of some creativity and goal scorers this window.

Otavio would fit the description as a creative force in the final third who will also get stuck in defensively. We’ll see if his name keeps popping up over the next few weeks.

The traitor has a track record of failure
He’s stated publicly he don’t do tactics
Our owner only wants to gamble on players without a care to what the team needs
Jabba don’t care about the club other than what he can take

It’s not my point, I don’t think anyone reads your posts who comes here often anymore unless they are in direct conversation with you… What would be the point? you never have anything new to say.

But it’s irrelevant if it’s New years day because you are posting everyday all day… Which would be fine if it wasn’t rinse and repeat drivel.. Does make one wonder what your life outside this forum must be like to devote everyday all day to telling a few strangers THE SAME THING

    Possible transfer options:

Habib Diallo – FC Metz – FC – £10 mil
Nabil Bentaeb – Schalke – On loan
    Jarrod Bowen – Hull – AMC/FC – £20 mil
    Giorgian de Arrascaeta – Flamengo – AMC – £20mil

I think we could have a good chance of getting the top three if NUFC wanted to but will need to shift some players ie Muto, Saviet, Colback and maybe Gayle

Thought I’d repost my New Years message.

It’s that time here in England, so a happy New Year to Toon fans everywhere and their families.

May the spirits of the Seasons bless your lives with health and happiness.

May our beloved team be blessed with success and produce the type of football we want to see and let cups and silverware begin to flow into our club.

May our treatment room be empty of injured players, so that our manager has a vast choice of player to choose from.

May the coffers be loosened and whatever players we need be purchased.

May the training facilities be upgraded and modernised to be as good as any in the world.

A special thanks to the Harrison family for keeping the blog going despite some of the travails that befall it it at times. ?

And finally may our esteemed owner emulate the Tin Woodsman.

    Blessed be to all

I have no gripe with the player
I’m calling it as it is
We need him to come good
As up to now he had not been good
I never saw Linton before he came here
I think nobody on this blog had
Where the recommendation came from is anyone’s guess. Let’s hope it turns out to be a true one today

Do you not think it’s also harsh to be saying he’s failing when he’s still adjusting to the league?
And I’ve seen him a good few times before he came to us and even before any transfer link to us surfaced. I’ve said this lots on here lol.
He’s a good player and a manager like Julian Nagelsmann rates him highly too when at hoffenheim. That should count for a lot when it comes to determine if a player is good or not.
There was a report in the chronicle explaining how the scouting team rated him as an attacking mid and not a striker. Yet he’s been played as a lone striker most of the time. He’s not a rondon or a Carroll. Never has been. So that’s been the biggest issue in how he’s performed for us so far.
Even this season with us, outside the top 6 teams, joelinton is one of the more creative players in the league.

So Otavio has the same agent as Joelinton.
Seems not that long ago that we had players many links with Mondial.

Just wonder what Influence Ashley is exerting on these groups

Adjustment is an excuse for bad performances

Non of us can criticise other bloggers for being on here every day.
If there was no criticism of the regime they would assume everybody’s happy, which the majority of us are definitely not!
We need the extreme views from people because most of us would turn up an SJP regardless. The fact is, we’re being exploited!

Honestly day one of 2020 and here we go, another year of Jib is PR for Ashley.

Can I say without any agenda, who gives a flying fcuk if he is, honestly is it going to change anything in the world today and at the club?

I for one don’t think he is and please just for that statement, don’t start saying I am.

Incidentally Kazenga Lua Lua is playing very well for Luton.

judging by the form book we surely are down to get beat.
Lejeune – really really slow in the last game. Again who is going to score for us???.

    2 – 1 to Leicester.

    Happy New Year to all.
