Who Was Newcastle’s Best Player In 3-0 Defeat To Leicester City?

Newcastle were in the game and holding up, but another defensive error brought on a Leicester City flurry to close the first half. Florian Lejeune just should not have been asked to play four times in less than two weeks. He was, and he just didn’t have it for a second straight game.

Martin Dubravka kept us in the game with some outstanding saves, but he could do nothing on the three goals, the last two of which were long-range blasts from James Maddison and Hamza Choudhury.

It looked like another collapse was on hand after Lejeune’s second error led to Maddison’s goal. The Foxes looked hungry for a third, but Newcastle were fortunate to keep it just 2-0 at the half.

Martin Dubravka– under pressure early and often

However, the damage was done both mentally and physically. Late in the half, both Jetro Willems and Javier Manquillo had to be taken off injured. Jonjo Shelvey couldn’t come out to start the second so Bruce was forced to use all of his substitutions.

Then Fabian Schar went down with a hamstring injury, and we were forced to play with ten men for the second time against Leicester. There also could be a problem with DeAndre Yedlin, who may have suffered a broken hand.

We were pleased that the players fought until the very end, but we are now in a precarious position in the league heading to Wolves in two weeks.

First we have the FA Cup on Saturday which will likely see Bruce field a weakened team. But that’s something that Newcastle fans will be very accustomed to though this time it may not be by choice.

Jamaal Lascelles, Matt Ritchie, Ciaran Clark, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Paul Dummett can’t return soon enough. We hope some are back by Wolves which is going to be another very tough match to get something from.

Is Bruce still happy with the squad Ashley has assembled?

    Fair and balanced question.

77 per cent possession for Leicester, Rondon, Benitez, Perez, out, DONKEYS OF THE HIGHEST PEDIGREE IN, Bruce, Joelinton, Almiron, one goal each ffs, 1 assist between them. No way could you make this up, Lajurne, dray horse of the highest order, should have been six if not for Debravka, we are set up to survive the premiership and keep the money’s rolling in for MIKE, nobody can defend this, not jib not munster not billson.
Be brave and turn like myself, the man has been here long enough, MA, Charnley Bruce, get the f cuk out of toon.
OK we may have another half de ent run somewhere along the season, it is not the point, our club is getting shafted for purely personel reasons, it’s gone from me till they go. 77 per cent possession for Leicester, Rondon, Benitez, Perez, out, DONKEYS OF THE HIGHEST PEDIGREE IN, Bruce, Joelinton, Almiron, one goal each ffs, 1 assist between them. We’ve got to take a look at how we are coaching our players at the moment.

Why are we the only team dealing with mass amounts of injuries when every other team is playing the same amount of games?

Something is wrong behind the scenes.

I must say it’s been shocking rotation (or lack of) by Bruce. Would rather play the youngsters then sit through 90 minutes of grown male athletes clearly struggling to keep up the pace due to fatigue.

Jib; your your of order there. Our squad is paper thin, unbalanced and totally unsuitable to meet the demands of a progressive and ambitious club.
You, obviously, have a different opinion.
This does not make you a prat nor is anyone who has a different opinion to you, nevertheless anyone who calls someone a prat for having an opinion which differs from their own is undoubtedly one.

I honestly think we’d do better with Henri Saviet in the team. At least he’s a player with technical ability and can score. Crazy decision not giving him a chance.

Couldn’t give a monkey’s about who was the best player in a 0-3 defeat at home with far less possession.
    Facts about Liecester City.
    King Power Stadium Capacity 32000
    Won Premier League 2015-16 Season
And this after the club In October 2002, went into administration with debts of £30 million.
Also won League Cup three times once in the 60s and twice ibn the nineties.
Also doing pretty well this season a creditable 2nd in the League.
What have we done in that period – Answer absolutely F all but struggle every season since Ashlie took over the club. Difference ambitious owners very popular with the fans who appoint managers who know what they are doing.
    Says it all for me.
Must be a pleasure to go and watch the Foxes these days especially compared to the dross served up by NUFC

Drop Joelinton and play with 10 men, our top passer with 17 against Leicester’s top passer with 112. Possession of less than 30% every game needs to be sorted urgently.

Sports Direct FC is a shambles from top to bottom. Its run on a shoestring with the sole ambition to try to scrape 17th or above. The parasite gives tickets away now, thousands of loyal supporters have left because the situation stinks.Bruce the serial failure on the touchline with no plan A never mind plan B.Not a penny will be spent on players in January when everyone knows we need upgrades all over the pitch.Big Mike rolls the dice and hopes for the best with no regard for anyone. No wonder he’s the most reviled business man in the uk.

It’s obvious why we only have 20 odd percent possession and it’s mostly not down to the players. We set up with 5 at the back with our 2 wide attacking players basically playing a Rm/Lm role tracking back as well. We end up with 1 player to too isolated and we don’t bother pressing the opposition either we retreat and let them have the ball. No striker would do anything in our team apart from one that can maybe take on 4-5 players and score himself. Other teams press us as we don’t have anything that worries them so even if they only have their defenders back they can easily cope with the 1 striker.

We need to ditch this 5 at the back especially without the pace of ASM to counter effectively. We need to get people pressing the opponent and getting some possession in the final 3rd of the pitch with decent options.

C-dog you are an imbecile of the highest order. He forced the keeper into a top class save is what happened. He should have scored no doubt but his confidence is shot playing in a position he isn’t best suited and playing it pretty much unsupported with a team facing less than 30% possession.

Play him from deep so he can run at defenders in space and use his power coming into the box later.

    Only when Ashley goes.

    But why should he go?

    Wrong question.

    Why would he stay?

Thats why we have many more years with Mr Ashley at the helm.

Wanting Ashley to go will effect nothing. Hope is a dangerous thing.
