Bruce May Look To Youth But Hopeful On Three Injured Magpies

Steve Bruce has had a horrible week since Christmas day. Newcastle have lost three on the trot culminating in a decimated squad that has at least 10 players suffering from injuries.

It all spilled over yesterday when we were forced down to ten men with four players having to come off injured. The state of affairs at Newcastle right now is quite dire. It’s all come apart in just one week.

Next up is the FA Cup tie at Rochdale, which Steve Bruce again has to make some difficult decisions with his team selection. He may have to draft in some youngsters to fill out the squad. It is something Bruce has given thought to.

The Chronicle have published the following comments from Bruce when asked if he’ll dip into the U23s for Saturday’s FA Cup match:

“Yes. Well, we’ll see what we’ve got.

“We’ve got to look at all sorts of the squad, so we’ll see what we’ve got.

“Look, we’ve got 10 people missing. Now as we speak, we’ve got 10 out of 22 outfield players, which obviously is not healthy.

“Look, it’s happened, it is upon us.

“We’ve had a bad week and we’ve got to try to put it right, get ready for the cup-tie on Saturday and try to look forward.

“We’ve got a little bit of light with Matt Ritchie and Lascelles and Dummett, so we’ll see what we’ve got.”

It would be very timely to get Ritchie, Lascelles, or Dummett back for Wolves a week on Saturday. However, only Dummett would be in contention for the weekend.

The report in the Chronicle says that Bruce will take stock of what he has at training today and make a decision. Bruce does seem to think that Dummett is in contention. This is what Bruce had to say about his six center-backs:

“It’s a big day for somebody like Dummy. Ciaran Clark, I can’t see it, and I can’t see Lascelles either, so out of six, we’ve got four missing.

We hope that Florian Lejeune will not be involved on Saturday. Five games in two weeks for a player who had missed over eight months with a severe injury is beyond ludicrous.

Having Paul Dummett back would help with giving Lejeune a rest. He could slot Emil Krafth or Isaac Hayden in for Schar on the right side. Or even bring in young Kelland Watts for a game it’s too early for Dummett.

Who Was Newcastle's Best Player In 3-0 Defeat To Leicester City?

  • Miguel Almiron (10%, 169 )

  • Jonjo Shelvey (3%, 51 )
  • Joelinton (3%, 43 )
  • Florian Lejeune (2%, 37 )

  • Isaac Hayden (1%, 23 )

Munster Rafa that £20 million was too much of a gamble, there is definitely something odd about the deal to bring Joelinton to the club, why was Ashley so desperate for it to go through

Well Bruce’s plan of binning the game against Manchester United to keep the players fresh for the Everton & Leicester home games worked well, any points from the next 3 will be a bonus but very unlikely, we could be playing Norwich while in the bottom 3, as was said by someone yesterday it was bad enough Rafa leaving but we also lost his experienced back room team, injuries were never as much a problem the previous 3 seasons, whatever is happening in training needs to be assessed

I’d sell the following in January:

    Sean Longstaff – £30m
    Hayden – £15m
    Gayle – £15m
    Dummett – £8m
    Krafth – £4m
    Ki – £1m

    Everton Soares – £35m
    Bowen – £17m
    Ibrahima Sissoko – £10.5m
    Rony Lopes – Loan
    Mateta – £35m
    Abeid – £4m

Joelinton should never have signed under these tactics, Rafa was correct and now we have a 40m player looking like 40k player. Bruce needs to play the players/squad to their strengths otherwise we never see the best of players such as Joel, Miggy & Maxi. A change of tactics is needed and lose the focal point in Joel, play to feet with quick tempo and push the team up! Playing a defensive back line will aid the midfield & forwards to get in the ball a bit more.
Looking at our squad I see major changes needed granted, but that’s what we’ve got! Bringing a box to box midfielder would be my personal no1 choice then a forward minded player.

Did we not go through a injury crisis many seasons ago which was why the training pitches were changed??.
Saying we are panicking yet sit 13th with Wolves away,Chelsea Home and Everton and Arsenal to come away. With now a big injury crisis and sitting just above the relegation zone.Cannot score goals for love n money.Conceding goals for fun with a shite goal difference.

Yeah Don’t sweat lads all is rosy

Re the £40m, we don’t know it was that figure but the club hasn’t denied it. Right that’s my devil’s advocate bit out of the way, of course it stinks, it’s ashLIE asset stripping the club. Club pays £40m, Hockenheim get £25m (say), agents fees are £15m, funnily enough £10m gets siphoned back into ashLIE’s pocket.

He stinks, his business practices stink, he employs adults at 13p an hour, what do we need to do to get rid of him?

We can start off by joining The Magpie Group.

Bruce tomorrow, we had a good training day, we only lost two more players to injury, we should count our blessings, it could have been three.

As for ginger, you little parasite, sneaky little shite, injured your ass, keep getting paid you fcuking worm.

Joelinton goal/mins ratio is 0.06, Assist 0.11 in 21 appearances this season.
    Andy Caroll’s goal/mins ratio is 0 & assist 0.54 in 12 games.
I would think the long ball, counter attacking negative football we are playing thus far is not working for either of our forwards regardless of price tags! You can then argue aerial duels won, or dribbles etc etc but the forwards are judge on goals/assist. #woeful

Suggested line up for cup game accounting for injuries and preventing more.

Hayden moved into cb like in his young arsenal days.
Possibly blood cass, Watts to cover for senior players.
Even sangare, longelo, toure and Sorensen could get a look in.
