Wing-Back Reveals Injury Is ‘Nothing Bad’

When Jetro Willems limped off the pitch on Wednesday, we feared the worst. He pulled up trying to track Ayoze Perez on a Leicester City break. Ayoze crossed the ball to Kelechi Iheanacho, but Martin Dubravka was able to make a superb save to keep it at 2-0.

That was it for Jetro and it didn’t look good as he limped down the tunnel with a reported groin problem. With Matt Ritchie just returning to individual training, having Jetro out for any length of time would be devastating news.

However, Jetro has spoken to the Shields Gazette and is quite confident that he hasn’t severely injured his groin.

“I’ve never known anything like that. It’s difficult. You play three games in seven days.

“It was my groin and hamstrings. Everybody feels something. I’ve played all the games.

“For me, it’s the first time I have had this (many games over Christmas). Normally, you have a break. But now you just keep going.

“The Prem is not like other leagues. It’s pretty difficult, but it’s nothing bad, bad, bad. I think I will be there for the next Prem game.”

This is good news, though we’ll find out the full extent of Jetro’s injury once he gets his scan. He’ll definitely be out for the cup-tie at Rochdale. Having him back for Wolves would be a pleasant development.

We have been a little concerned for Jetro, who has taken time getting to full fitness this season. He’s missed a couple of games with knee issues and has looked off the pace at times lately.

Hopefully, this injury is not too serious, and a week and a half of recovery will be enough time for him to be back for next Saturday.

I admit i gave him a hard time cos i thought he was lazy and many a time he ran in to difficulty and lost the ball far to often,Then just sauntered back without a care in the world. The last part of last season for me was his best spell..But did he play for a move.
I thought him stood there with his traditional fingers in ears with a massive smirk on his face was a massive slap in the face for all the staff at Nufc that made him into the player he is today

Not got a problem with Perez celebrating like he did. He got booed yesterday before he scored. Every right to give it back.

Perez was given dogs abuse by the like of you nufc-83, ronaldo aarons and Reilly for years while you defend Joelinton at every given opportunity.

Perez was our best servant of the last decade. The only other that could potentially rival him would be Dummett. Yet those mentioned above would probably give their votes to schar or ki.

Find a post of mine criticising Perez on here.
    I defended him constantly.
You can troll better than that as you’re just embarrassing yourself now.

The fans in the ground and there was plenty of em gave him a hard time because of his attitude in games and like many he played for the move and got what he wanted.Playing alongside Rondon may have helped his cause.
The only thing i do agree with Perez on is one of the reasons he left was because of the lack of ambition at the club and for that i cannot fault him one bit

I see the blithering idiot that goes by the name Munster Mag was giving Rafa a bit of credit today, watch his comments on our former manager soften if the second half of the season is as bad as we fear. He should have definitely been Italian that bloke!

I think you will find sunshine that i was critical this morning because i dont believe he’s a 20 goal a season man for the PL. And as for Ronaldo he has always been on Perez’s side.
So stop ya shite stirring kidda and bring a debate to the table that merits a friendly debate

Next month raises a conundrum. Do those on the fixed price sitting together continue paying or do they take a chance that the tickets might be buy one get one free, which looking at the amount of people that left early yesterday, is a real possibility.

Perez’ treatment by the fans when he was going through a bad spell with us justified his goal celebration
the treatment of joelinton on New years day further proves his point

If we’d have signed someone of the pedigree of Ings instead of that stocking of dogshit we’d be a far more consistent side

    jazzyp, nope,
i’m saying perez is well within his rights to give as good as he gets

his fingers-in-ears celebration was triggered by unwarranted abuse he received from NUFC fans
how fitting that he gets to perform that celebration in front of the same fans that mistreated him when he was our player
bet he feels over the moon right now

Plain PR stuff, these statements. First Lascelles and now Willems with Bruce in between. Everything was fine against LC; three limped out just for the heck of it and we’re at the top of the injury table for nothing. What are we; imbeciles? Physioroom is not even putting a date for Willems’ return. Lascelles, Ritchie and Clark may be back by our date against Chelsea.

Jail you pillock, I was well able to give rafa praise. What I objected to was that halfwits like you couldn’t stand to see ANY criticism, which was clearly silly. So for example I praised some of his transfer work. I also praised him when he got good results, eg Leicester away. You really have issues 🙂

Thankfully far more people gave a more balanced analysis as time went on, whilst still praising him, as is right.
