Who Did Our Readers Select As The Best Against Leicester?

It was a sad sight on Saturday as Newcastle lost their third straight match. We again made defensive errors that gifted the opposition goals.

However, that was not the worst of it as we saw four players taken off with injuries. Forced to play with just ten men for the bulk of the second half, Newcastle had to settle for just trying to keep the damage to a minimum.

While Leicester did score a late goal on an excellent strike by Hamza Choudhury, the lads did their best to keep Leicester quiet in the second half. They were able to avoid a repeat of the thrashing from September.

Much of that was due to our goalkeeper Martin Dubravka who again made some outstanding saves. He kept Newcastle in the match with some early stops but, unfortunately, could do nothing on the three goals.

Martin again tops our poll as the best player. It’s the sixth time he’s been selected this season. This time there was no competition whatsoever.

Of the 1626 total votes, Dubravka was picked 1073 times for 66%. The next closest was Miguel Almiron, with 10% of the vote. Miguel played his heart out at left wing-back in the second half.

Martin will likely get a well-deserved break tomorrow as we expect to see Karl Darlow in for the FA Cup match at Rochdale.

I’m very surprised that Munster doesn’t remember the strong team that Rafa put out against Hull in the QF as he absolutely slaughtered the manager for making so many changes in the defeat to Blackburn the weekend before, the first defeat in equalling a club record.

So Watts, Cass, Scott, Allan and Sorensen all in contention tomorrow. Given the options we have, I’d give Allan, Watts and maybe Cass a start, go 442.

    Darlow
    Kraft, Fernandez, Watts, Cass
    Atsu, M.Longstaff, S.Longstaff, Allan
    Muto, Carroll

    Subs
Dubravka, Yedlin, Ritchie, Hayden, Scott, Sorensen, Gayle

    Klopp quote
He says he DOES respect the FA Cup.
But adds with feeling: “My first job is to respect the players. I have to decide if they can play again. How can you look at a situation like Newcastle losing 4 players in 1 game, and not think this is crazy?!”

    Munster,

Apart from enjoying endlessly trying to wind fans up, name calling and being ultra repetitive, what is it exactly that you feel you contribute that makes you have the gall to call others out.

Hey guys put your tinfoil hats on.

What if Manchester United have told Sean to perform poorly so they can sign him for cheaper in January?

Yikes, when you take it off it sounds even worse of a theory lol.

Bruce does rotate. He waits for a player to get injured then he rotates him.

See V.Fernandez scored, know he was out for a while with injuries, anyone know how’s he’s been doing? Rafa seemed to rate him.

Are we sure this fixture congestion is down to the winter break, it was the same last year albeit with a game every three days, has this year not been just down to when the dates fell.
