This is the team Steve Bruce has picked for the FA Cup tie at Rochdale. It has five changes from the loss to Leicester City and consists of all senior members of the squad.

Steve Bruce wasn’t kidding when he said he’d choose as strong a side as possible. He’s kept Martin Dubravka in goal.
It looks like the lads will line up with four at the back unless he’s going to use both Isaac Hayden and Emil Krafth as part of a back three with Atsu as a left wing-back.
Dwight Gayle doesn’t make the trip, which means his time at Newcastle could be up this month. Despite traveling with the team, Ludwig Francillette doesn’t make the squad.
However, Lewis Cass, Elias Sorensen, and Tom Allan do along with Matt Ritchie and Ki Sung-yueng getting back into the team.
This is who Brian Barry-Murphy has selected for our opponents. Youngster Luke Matheson only makes the bench.

Hopefully, we can get a comfortable win today to progress to the Fourth Round. Bruce has kept his word to field a strong team, so there are no excuses to not get the victory this afternoon.

Comment #82Somebody seems to have given the right instructions to Miggy. Irrespective of the opposition the best way to score is keep it between the posts and put your foot through it. Muto / Joelinton clearly haven’t had the memo.
Could be a worrying 2nd half if only 0-1 at half time.

Comment #85Better from Joelinton, one fluid move in a touch and strike.

Comment #88Joelinton has to put one of these away. Bruce may need to play important players for longer in this game due to Joelinton’s miss. It’s not like the team can afford any more injuries, and missing chances is putting extra strain on a side depleted with injuries.

Comment #90Our final ball is so wasteful, we should be out of sight.
Our strikers are always in a hurry, snatching at chances- very little composure in front of goal.
Hopefully we can get another early in the second half, if Yedlin keeps getting this much space either Muto or Joe have got to go to the front post rather than always staying in the middle.
The next Mike Williamson

Comment #91we could do with a confidence boosting thrashing. but id probably take off some key players at half time. an injury to dubravka would be unthinkable. ki for almiron seems a no brainer. id like to see one of the youths get on too. havent heard much hype about cass or allan so worrying that theyre the best weve got. maybe they can.go on to be the next Dummett.

am watching with one eye at work yedders seems to be smoking that wing and laying it right at Joe’s feet. Someone needs to show Joe where his laces are then tell him to put them through the ball

Comment #94Joelinton just isn’t a striker, he is so poor at attacking the ball. It shows that even against a poor league 1 team he is struggling. Shame as a goal scoring Brazilian would be awesome but even Joselu could find the net more than he could.

Comment #95Joel is waste of space for me. If League 1 defenders are just enough for him, so… and on the other hand I hope Sorensen will start 2nd half. Coz… if League 1 defenders are too much for him… 🙂 Anyway, so happy for Miggy! His smile and support from guys is amazing 🙂

Comment #96It’s getting to the pint where JoeLinton has to prove he has some kind of finishing instinct/ quality or whether he is nothing but an average hold the ball up CF.
If he can’t then I want Sorenson on ASAP because we may as well get something positive from this.
