Three Magpies In Loan Action This Afternoon

Jacob Murphy was handed a rare start in the FA Cup for Sheffield Wednesday this afternoon. The Owls were able to get a big 1-0 win at Brighton on a 65th-minute goal by Adam Reach. Jacob played 71 minutes before being replaced by Kadeem Harris.

Dan Barlaser started again for Rotherham at home against Hull City in the FA Cup. Rotherham went down to ten men in the first half but had a 2-1 lead at halftime. However, Hull City’s Tom Eaves scored two second-half goals to complete a hat trick for the 3-2 win. It was Barlaser’s sixth straight start for the Millers.

In League Two action, Liam Gibson got another start for Grimsby Town. Grimsby won 1-0 at Mansfield despite going down to ten men in the tenth minute. It was a debut victory for new manager Ian Holloway and the second straight for the Mariners who hadn’t won since September until earlier this week. Gibson received a late yellow card and was substituted in the 80th minute.

A draw was the worst result today.
A win is the best and a defeat second best.
But we will not win a cup under this regime so whats the point of entering???
I suppose we have to enter but half the team is not bothering. I do not understand why the fans go to Cup matches.

After 21 league games none of our forwards has scored more than 1 league goal. Three (3) between the lot of them in 21 x 4 players = 84 games. Quite staggering.
How they are not bottom of the league I will never know.
Bruce has to take a lot of credit for playing games without a forward line.

Chopra as a fan is entitled to his opinion weather or not he was a top striker, i dont ever remember him getn a run of games for us like joelinton has, he was kept out of the team by top strikers, again il say that even Shearer would struggle with this system and thats down to steve bruce and sour grapes or not Chopra is entitled to his opinion, and im sure thers not too many positives for him to pick out of the current shambles mike ashley has created

Hilarious that Rafa had to sell to buy (but usually the sales just went into HIS pocket and then Rafa departs and they double the transfer record on big Joe.
You double your transfer record on Joelinton.
Yep. You have to repeat it to grasp the enormity of it
You wait 4 years to shatter your transfer record on Big Joe. I now understand why nobody was competing for his signature. We had a clear run at him and Hoffenheim just invented a massive number

Current shambles should read permanent shambles.
Every year we fight relegation or get relegated. No cup runs.
    Whats to like?

    Just watched Espanyol vs Barcelona
Espanyol’s Chinese left wing , Lu Wei is some player
Espanyol are rooted to the foot of La Liga – he might be worth a shout in Summer

Theres a reason Rafa didn’t buy Joelinton. Today was the reason, possibly NUFC worst no. 9 in the clubs history.

Yeah i agree that its a permanent thing, dont get why more fans wouldnt take dropping down a few divisions 2 get rid of this rat, i think a couple of seasons in league 1 and rebuild from ther with ashley gone, how could it possibly b any worse than wots goin on atm, plenty of tough games and all but maybe get the winning mantality and noisey fanbase back

We have had some stinkers at 9 recently. Riviere, Joselu and Guivarch with Joelinton are front runners.
Joelinton easily wins the race because he cost 40 million and the others were all well under 10 million I believe. Easily the worst value for money.

    Totally agree.
I would rather watch us play attractive footy in League 1 than this defence v attack when we are at home. We defend by the way.
Plus we might go on a cup run and get some pride back.
The massive bonus is that the owner would leave. Nowt to advertise in League 1 and no sky money. Poverty. Bye bye

At least the replay will be on tv….media creaming themselves over us in another fa cup embarrassment. That daft lass on bt today “yeah Rochdale dominated and now know what to expect from Newcastle they should go up there and beat them” I hate the tapeworm but I hate the media more for the easy ride they give him and the fact they love it when we struggle, we will wallop Rochdale 4 zip up here and it’ll be worth it just to shove the media’s nose in it.

This team is so fragile, confidence wise…that is why chances must be taken,we are missing to many chances and that adds to the pressure, our players just can’t handle pressure….whether thats goin away to man utd in league or Rochdale in the cup….they start panicking on the ball making mistakes and start forgetting to do the simple… stuff, defend, track, tackle…and basically turn in to dumbells waiting to conceed a goal…. joelinton is not a premier league striker, sorry to say that…he has games where he grafts well, trys but lacks that…”shearer striker instinct” to score….ana shearer is a hell of a jump, but what i mean is he never seems comfortable in front of goal, never seems sharp in front of goal…he looks like a midfielder playing up front coz there is no other players available….i dont like having a go at the lad,as its not all his fault but when a team is struggling u need to know that at least if your striker gets a chance,he myt score or at least work the keeper…i dont have that confidence….seems the team are the same way….as a team we give away far to many stupid fouls away in dangerous areas and make to many individual errors,or put ourselves on the back foot and under pressure thru shear stupidity….need to be smarter as footballers.

Why don’t you list this mythical mass of fans who actually want us to fail, Munster? Are you not mistaking them for fans fearing the worst? Does it make you feel like you will appear to be a superior quality supporter? Give it a rest you’ve been seriously exposed on here the last few weeks you’re like someone doggy paddling in quicksand.

I sometimes feel sympathy for Bruce with his squad dissolving into mush and he’s doing his best to wring something out of it. Then I snap back to summer when he tore Ashley’s arm off and accepted the job no questions asked. Yep this is what you sold what soul you had for, Steve. Welcome to the fiery depths of NUFC, Ashley style! The world and his dog told you this was what was coming to you, you didn’t listen did you?
