Three Magpies In Loan Action This Afternoon

Jacob Murphy was handed a rare start in the FA Cup for Sheffield Wednesday this afternoon. The Owls were able to get a big 1-0 win at Brighton on a 65th-minute goal by Adam Reach. Jacob played 71 minutes before being replaced by Kadeem Harris.

Dan Barlaser started again for Rotherham at home against Hull City in the FA Cup. Rotherham went down to ten men in the first half but had a 2-1 lead at halftime. However, Hull City’s Tom Eaves scored two second-half goals to complete a hat trick for the 3-2 win. It was Barlaser’s sixth straight start for the Millers.

In League Two action, Liam Gibson got another start for Grimsby Town. Grimsby won 1-0 at Mansfield despite going down to ten men in the tenth minute. It was a debut victory for new manager Ian Holloway and the second straight for the Mariners who hadn’t won since September until earlier this week. Gibson received a late yellow card and was substituted in the 80th minute.

I actually wouldn’t be surprised if Milan let Piatek go, maybe on loan. They’ve done it with a few forwards over the past few seasons. Noticeably Silva.

Like a few others have eluded to though, if he was available on loan there would be a whole lot of clubs interested.

I’d be surprised if we bring anyone in and they’re anything but an “unknown” that we take a chance on. Ideally we need to bring in someone who’s been in good form over the first half of the season, like when we signed Cissé all those years ago.

    Munster,

Any remote chance of changing the narrative? Your daily Rafa put down has gone on longer than the B word. Why not chew Bruce out for his constant anti football, instead of making endless excuses for him, he does very well doing that himself. Pardew class in fact.

The strange thing is Ashley offering to pay £20m of his own money for him. What was the thinking? What did they see?

“and who seen it” is the question i’d like to ask ???????

As is usual with Ashley I think the simplest answer is the right one.
He saw LPool triple their money buying a Brazilian from Hoffenheim
(Firmino) and thought I’ll have some of that.

I don’t like to kick a man when he is down, “but”, I have never seen a player in Joelinton, certainly not a centre forward. Even the goal he scored against Spurs was kicked off him by the Spurs defender.

Regarding the worst centre forwards we have had, I would like to nominate Kit Napier, however, as bad as he was at least he had scored goals in lower leagues.

Exactly the point i would make, he missed out on Firmino and took the next one out the factory. Both Brazilians have played the majority of their football in a front three however, not the lone striker role that we require.

In the first half yesterday Joelinton lost the ball and chased it back, recovering the ball in the left back position. It could be highly likely that at half time he was told not to and save his energy by remaing in a higher position, ready to receive the recovered ball when played out.

Yet he continues to play him , week in week out, has changed the system( slightly ) to accommodate him …..all to no avail.
Either Joe is as bad as he is showing , or the coach does not know how to get him playing well and scoring.
We are creating a few good chances (which we are spurning) and if we continue to spurn , we will be relegated
We need a stallion and ended up with donkey, I just hope there is a potion good enough to change him into a stallion for a few month at least ( maybe some of dembas strawberry sauce) .
Or play someone else and rest him for a few weeks, till we get some points on the board.

A brief watch of the action yesterday showed Joelinton making a header but he seemed almost static and failed to get off the ground or attack the ball to get some power on the header which is what Andy Carroll or say Ronaldo would instinctively do. Hardly encouraging.

Why did Ashley fund the deal to buy JoeLinton with £20m of his own money ? Where are Panorama are their no holds barred investigative journalists when you need them. It seems obvious to everyone that the deal needs investigating and yet everyone turns a blind eye like in the tale of the King’s clothes.

The really sad thing is that even with my most optimistic perspective,Ashley and his cronies have worn me down
I don’t agreed with the frogs approach or much of what he actually says but I have reached the point where I am more inclined to see his point of view as fairly accurate.
It really matters not a tot about Bruce any of the players ,Rafa a flop of a Brazilian
The club is simply rotten to the core and even for me the time has come to simply refuse to go to games
This team is awful they have no core no spirit and above all limited creativity and that’s before I get stated on the manager the guy is simply incapable of managing at this level and the players know that .
I have a season ticket the same seat for over 20 years ,and was there yesterday ,I will keep my ticket ,because it’s a great spot and I want it when things improve, but it will reluctantly be empty until the future begins ,yesterday was simply unacceptable at every level
For me it is pointless having a go at the players as the away fans did yesterday and I completely understand why the majority felt it necessary
They are simply the wrong players not their fault
It is with a heavy heart that I have reached this point but there is simply no other way ,and there is certainly no enjoyment watching this team.

The confusion about Joelinton could be something as daft as mis-translation
any advanced player is referred to as a fußball vorwärts which is what they
probably called Joelinton and that was interpreted as CF
A centre forward in German is actually mittelstürmer

Mike Ashley is a buffoon who hasn’t got a clue about football, you’d think after 12 years it might have sunk in but clearly not, his ego will drive this club into the ground.

Ashley is gonna hold Joelinton over us for 6 years. “We need to move some players out before we can buy“ will be the line. And there’s no way we’ll be able to sell him.

Jib of course will buy it

Ashley messed up on Joelinton, not the club. He alone should take the hit. But unfortunately we’re the ones who’ll have to compensate the club for this.

Honestly, I would take relegation if it meant the fat man would sell up and do one!
As least we’d get someone who actually cared for the club. It won’t sell for £350 million even if fatso wanted to sell so relegation is the only option to what we’ve got!

We are clutching at straws if the theory is “we thought he was a centre forward but he was a winger”! He’s not quick enough to be a winger anyway! God he’s on a 5 year contract isn’t he? By the time he’s good enough he’ll be too old! Haha only Ashley’s Newcastle could have signed that knacker for £40 million!

Nagelsmann played with 2 main formations last season
3 4 1 2 with Joelinton and Andrej Kramaric (neither of whom was a CF)
    as a 2 pronged attack
    OR
4 3 3 with the 2 above on the right and left with the Hungarian Ádám Szalai
    as CF

I dont understand the joelinton transfer?…if ya wanting to spend 30-40m on a striker, which for us is mega money….why go for someone whos scoring record is probs what a decent scoring centre halfs record is…if your wanting to buy a “potentially good but needs development”..why spend so much and then throw him straight into a poor team in a new league? …. whomever is making the recruitment decisions at newcastle needs sacked/reviewed…hate having a go at players but he’s not looking good as a goal scorer, but its not all his fault.

Ashley has such a high opinion of his own judgement that he probably thought
Joelinton was a golden opportunity to make a few quid without even giving any

It was a pure casino move – he does it all the time in business
