Allan Saint-Maximin hurt his hamstring in the closing minutes of the 2-1 win over Southampton on December 8th. The prognosis was that Allan would be out 4-6 weeks with the injury.
He’s so far missed five Premier League games, four of which Newcastle have lost. So getting the 22-year-old back as soon as possible will be a massive boost to Newcastle United.
It seems like he is progressing as expected with his rehabilitation. Allan will take part in training this week and is now in contention to make the Wolves game next weekend if all goes well.
This is what Steve Bruce told the Chronicle about the injury situation leading to the trip to Molineux:
“Saint-Maximin, Clark, Dummett, Ritchie and Lascelles all could be in contention at Wolves.
“What a good five that would be to welcome back!”
This is excellent news. Bruce said in the press conference before the Rochdale match that Clark, Dummett, Ritchie, and Lascelles could be back for Wolves. However, having Allan back in contention as well is a welcomed surprise.
We have just not been the same without the Frenchman in the team, so his return could be vital to resurrecting our season. However, Bruce must still proceed cautiously with Saint-Maxmin.
This is the second time he’s missed over a month with a hamstring injury this season. We would expect Allan to be slowly worked back into the team with some subsitute appearances once he’s declared fit. With a little luck that will be on Saturday at Wolves.

Comment #41Yeah Sing, I’m all for players getting very good money, entertainers after all similar to actors and singers etc, though much shorter careers. But fact its gone so hing just isnt right. No problem with them not having to do another job after finishing like back in the day, but 10’s to 100’s of thousands a week is just a total joke.

They are the two key areas. Personally, I’d settle for a journeyman striker who could do a job till summer, IF we went all out on a high end centre mid.
I would settle for a couple of loans this window, with the promise of real spend in the summer, if we hadn’t been burnt so many times in the past.

No I don’t mean that . Also in looking at that you have to look at Ashleys involvement and why the issue came about .
So no I was not refering to that which you mention above just now .
I was referring to Ashleys involment in Rangers and the fact the Rangers sell a shirt at £65 quid and only receive a pound, one pound, and Asley takes £64 !!!!!!!!!!
Your making some sort of case for him here is going against what we all know .
He’s a piss taking greedy B’stard.
I’m bored now so going out ..bye!

Ashley’s deal with Rangers gets him 3 or 4% more than all clubs get from their merchandising agreements. Their board post Ashley were happy to sign the deal.
Not making a case for him at all, just nkt really sure why people feel the need to just make things up, when there is lots of real things you could comment on. But if you are bored, then no worries.

Comment #51The club’s not worth 350 million , if Ashley only wanted his money back he’d sell it for 250 – 270 , that would cover his initial outlay plus the current debt (half of which he has saddled us with )
I doubt he gives us a second thought beyond the hour a week meeting he has with charmless or bishop or whichever crony is doing the day to day

Comment #52If Rangers fans have a gripe it should be with Dave King. There when they went belly up, loads of criminal charges against him, and happy to agree and sign the deal with Ashley, before trying to illegally break it – as proven in a court of law…..

Comment #53Wasn’t the rangers thing signed off by previous board who Ashley had unofficial control of ..? Seem to remember something like that in the court case although Rangers lost so no shenanigans could be proven

Then Ashley can’t be taking much our at all, or making much from it?
The value will be based on profitability, global image and success. So it is worth far more than 350 if he is coining it in, or if it isn’t worth 350 he is making very little. It certainly isn’t inflated through success or image.

Comment #56Now the interesting thing will be with Max back what does Bruce do with almiron? If he puts Al back on the right I will be done with him as a manager. I think clearly the best thing is to go with a 4231 with Al in the middle where he’s been thriving lately and has always been his best position.

When I referred to investment it was in the context of Ashley buying the club, stripping out some of its revenue generators (eg, merchandising, logo royalties, land etc and getting returns on them without spending anything or little. Guaranteed returns for his businesses at littke or no cost.
The core of NUFCbus being run on a shoestring with little or no investment on infrastructure for example. Whatever Ashley’s put in, sits in the balance sheet as debt which unless the ground opens and SJP falls into it, he’s guaranteed his return on the debt he’s owed. The footballing side of the business is running at no cost to him.
That was my point, he’s stripped out and profited from the club’s money-spinners, while his SD empire gets worldwide advertising for far less that market rates as NUFC’s infrastructure needs but is denied investment and is run on a just enough to survive basis.
Did that help clarify the point I was making?
And, referring to the assaults on a certain poster, that one has form in terms of provocation and mischief making – far more than the vast majority on here, those who keep a civil tongue and haven’t been banned.

Comment #59The team yesterday gave me hope we,d get through to next round on the day.
But no this the Toon where nothing is easy.
We should have a 2nd 11 that could beat Rochdale but no we ended up with a lucky draw.
This is what we do year after year refuse the opportunity to advance in the cups.
And people still turn up to watch our shambles of a team.
Joelinton is the easy fall guy so boo him and not chant against AshLie or cabbage heed.
The kid did not put the big buying price on himself and has probably never played as a centre forward before.
Please boo the folk who payed all that dosh for him and cabbage heed for continually playing him .

He invested, but as a business man. It is different for the likes of you and I because the club is an emotional part of us, and not a business in our eyes.
He bought a going concern, invested sufficiently to make it viable, but won’t continually put money in. A business man buying a business.
He had bigger dreams for what he could get, sharp realised that the marketing and ad revenue he wanted was a fantasy, and cut cloth accordingly.
Awful for us who are emotionally, and many who are financially invested. But that is a business man, and that is the same mentality that most people who can buy him out will have.
Hopefully, the next person can do the football and personnel side better. I don’t want us to buy success. That takes us just as far away from the community and city that the club should connect with.
