Steve Bruce brought four Newcastle youngsters with the squad to Rochdale on Saturday. However, only three of them ended up making the bench in Elias Sorensen, Tom Allan, and Lewis Cass.
Unfortunately, the events of the day made it impossible for any of them to make their debuts with Newcastle unable to build a strong lead and ultimately leaving Spotland with a disappointing 1-1 draw.
The player who missed out on a place on the teamsheet was free agent Ludwig Francillette. He was far from upset with his exclusion, however, and seems to have been thrilled with the experience.
This is what the 20-year-old tweeted after the match.
Happy to have been included for the 1st time to the matchday traveling squad to play @officiallydale. Didn't make the teamsheet but what a great experience to watch so many superb @NUFC supporters in the away end. Class ?? pic.twitter.com/nfDnGF9F50

Ludwig has since been called up to train with the first team and again is buzzing with the chance. This is what he tweeted yesterday about the experience.
Made the walk across to train with the 1st team. It's just great to learn and improve around such good players and great pros. I'll keep working hard to be called upon if and when needed in training ?? ??#nufc?? pic.twitter.com/cIkQMQMVMB

The youngster has just a great attitude, and his Twitter page is all about Newcastle. He seems to just love it on Tyneside.
Francillette joined as a free agent this past summer, along with goalkeeper Jake Turner and midfielder Kyle Scott. He’s made 7 appearances for the U23s so far and was paired with Florian Lejeune when the Frenchman played his two reserve matches a few months ago.
Hopefully, Ludwig will continue to progress and can eventually make his mark in the Newcastle first-team in the coming years.
