Dummett, Gayle, And The Longstaff Brothers All Start At Wolves

This is the team Steve Bruce will field today at Wolves. It features four changes from the FA Cup match at Rochdale.

It looks like Steve Bruce could be using Isaac Hayden as a right-back with no natural right-backs in the squad today. We’re not sure if it’s going to be 5-3-2 or a 5-2-3 with Joelinton moved out wide.

However, it is a surprise start for Dwight Gayle with Andy Carroll only making the bench. We’ll see both Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett make their long-awaited returns this afternoon.

The Longstaff brothers will make their second straight start together in the midfield. It’s great to see a couple of local lads in Kelland Watts and Tom Allan make the trip.

This is the starting eleven for our hosts this afternoon.

Most Newcastle fans won’t be expecting too much from this one. However, they will be expecting a better defensive display. We need to cut out the defensive errors that have plagued our recent run of bad form.

Howay The Lads!

Expect it to be compact with Almiron tracking back on the right and joelinton tracking back on the left.

Dwight Gayle likely to look quite isolated up front, but the pace is there to exploit any space behind their defence.

Low possession, lots of time defending, chance for goals on the break.

Ffs Longstaff why is he on freekicks? He’s been terrible at them whenever he is.

Gayle showing better build up play we’ve seen from any ‘target man’ be it Carroll or Joelinton.

Surely Dummett has been rushed back due to Bruce not fancying Lejeune after recent showings.

Lejeune slice leads to a corner and a goal.

First thing he does is eff up our steady, assured start.

He is seriously at Boumsong levels at the moment and showing no signs of recovering back to his previous level.
