Dummett, Gayle, And The Longstaff Brothers All Start At Wolves

This is the team Steve Bruce will field today at Wolves. It features four changes from the FA Cup match at Rochdale.

It looks like Steve Bruce could be using Isaac Hayden as a right-back with no natural right-backs in the squad today. We’re not sure if it’s going to be 5-3-2 or a 5-2-3 with Joelinton moved out wide.

However, it is a surprise start for Dwight Gayle with Andy Carroll only making the bench. We’ll see both Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett make their long-awaited returns this afternoon.

The Longstaff brothers will make their second straight start together in the midfield. It’s great to see a couple of local lads in Kelland Watts and Tom Allan make the trip.

This is the starting eleven for our hosts this afternoon.

Most Newcastle fans won’t be expecting too much from this one. However, they will be expecting a better defensive display. We need to cut out the defensive errors that have plagued our recent run of bad form.

Howay The Lads!

All these soft tissue injuries are alarming.
No doubt Bruce is getting feedback from senior players about the fitness and conditioning routines.
Is it just a case we’ve been desperately unlucky?

Decent first half performance. We rode out luck at times bit the effort is there. Need more out of the Longstaff brothers holding possession in the mf area

We don’t look the fittest team, we don’t seem to run a lot, and when our players are asked to sprint, or run faster than we train, they’re tweeking muscles.

And we are only half way through the season.

This is where Bruce is not a top coach, the training side of things, I honestly believe he is a great man manager, and will get the players to work hard for him, but his team like Rafa before him is not a good set of coaches.

What would be great here? A worldy, by one of our players, for a change.

    And Andy’s goal, of course.

Its one of his “talents” as a manager
He always ends up with a massive injury list, every team hes managed has had the same thing happen

Its what you get when you hire a guy thats the 2nd worst manager in prem history

Wind taken out of our sails by another injury. Lejeune comes on and immediately slices the ball with his first touch leading to a corner. Yes Fernandez should have done better, but that Lejeune slice was the first mishap by any of our players. Not good enough.

Then Gayle off and we’ve completely fallen flat.

Same story as recent weeks. Good starts, well in or even on top in games, then inexplicable mistakes and/or injuries completely mess us up.

Aye, the sheer amount of the same type of injuries must point to the fitness and conditioning training methods surely.
Could do with a medical person on here to spread some light on it

Those who slighted almiron months back are idiots anyone with any athletic experience could tell he’s a good player. decent half, what I don’t understand is why Bruce doesn’t just go 4 at the back… The injuries are crying for it. First off you only had one experienced cb (who just got back) on the bench and then a cb gets injured. Now there’s none and he’s putting Lejeune at risk. Could’ve just changed to 4 saved a sub and protected Lejeune.
