Newcastle have been linked with a move for Le Havre striker Tino Kadewere according to Football Insider. The in-demand 24-year-old has scored 18 goals in 20 Ligue 2 appearances and is rated at £15m
Many fans will be familiar with Le Havre as it’s were we plucked Charles N’Zogbia from in 2004.
The report says that Aston Villa, Norwich, and Newcastle are considering moves for the 24-year-old. However, both Celtic and Brazilian club Flamengo have made ‘concrete approaches’ for the Zimbabwe international.
Tino Kadewere– have Newcastle identified Le Havre man as striker target
Kadewere just turned 24 last month and scored his 18th goal in a 1-0 win at Niort yesterday. He joined Le Havre for £2m from Swedish club Djurgarden two summers ago even though he was still recovering from a severe knee injury.
The striker has had a history of injuries, but his goal-scoring record is quite impressive. Last season for Le Havre, he saw a dip in goals as he came back from his knee injury scoring just six. However, in his final season in Sweden, he managed 12 goals in 19 appearances.
Kadewere recently spoke about the speculation on his future.
“For now I’m just concentrating on Le Havre and this month of January, which promises to be very important for us.
“I’m a player for this team, and first of all, I’m focusing on the next three matches.
“Anything is possible, if the club gets a nice offer then I’ll reflect.
“But let’s be clear: I have huge respect for Le Havre. I haven’t forgotten and I’ll never forget that this is the club that bought me when I was injured and gave me a chance.
“So that will feature heavily in my considerations.
“I think it would be difficult for everyone, me first and foremost, because I feel at home here now.
“I love this club, I speak French, so leaving now would mean starting all over again in the middle of the season.
“And of course, I know it would be difficult for the club and for the fans.
“But that’s football. Like everyone, I think that England is the most beautiful destination for a footballer right now, but I wouldn’t say no to France.
“Quite simply, the idea is just to join a top European club.”
So the player seems keen to join an English club so that could rule out moves to Celtic or Flamengo.
Kadewere would be a risk for Newcastle as he’s never played in a top league. He does seem to have an eye for goal but he’s also has a spotty history with injuries.
However, Kadawere seems an interesting player who can score and create. He’s only really been deployed as a center-forward in his career but still gets a few assists each year.
Here’s a video of his goals and assists this season.
