Bruce Reveals Coming Transfer Talks With Mike Ashley

Steve Bruce has revealed details of a pending transfer summit with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley. Bruce made the revelation when talking about transfer plans during his press conference this morning.

The Chronicle have published the following statement from Bruce:

“I am meeting up with the owner in the next couple of days. That is planned.

“As I have said all along, if there is something that can make us better and they are available, I will ask the owner, of course.

“He was very supportive in the summer. So let’s see what we can get.

“I have said all along we won’t just bring players in for the sake of it.

“Most of the injuries we have will be back in two or three weeks.

“I am not one for just bringing in people for the sake of it, they have to improve us.”

While Bruce has been downplaying incomings, he obviously wants to bring players in this window.

There have been reports that he’s seeking as many as three additions this window. Bruce may point to injuries to make his case to Ashley.

However, Bruce has also been openly talking about a cup run this year while fielding his strongest possible team against Rochdale. He’s also threatening to do it tomorrow as well.

Could Mike Ashley be coming up to Newcastle to reign his head coach in? All this talk of winning something must have Ashley bewildered.

In all seriousness, we’d love to see the owner back Bruce this window. Incomings are desperately needed with the bottom three closing in.

Aston Villa are only five points behind Newcastle and will almost definitely do business this month. Watford have had a transformation under Nigel Pearson winning their last 3 games and now sit just 4 points behind Newcastle.

We’ve also seen Southampton and Everton jump us in the table as their fortunes have turned of late.

Newcastle are nowhere near safe despite a better than expected first half of the season. So maybe Ashley will listen to Bruce to ensure we stay in the Premier League.

Ashley has reportedly not seen Bruce since August so we’ll see what comes of this meeting in the next few days.

What Will Be The Result Of FA Cup Replay Against Rochdale?

  • Win (80%, 1,306 )
  • Loss (17%, 275 )
  • Draw (3%, 54 )

There a literally 1000s of players that can make us better, Steve.

Only issue is, will Captain Penny-pincher give you the funds or will he say his usual, sell players to get players which may happen the last week of window as planned and we end up getting injured forwards that may come good in April, hopefully.

….make us better than…what? A virtual first team missing? We needed a midfielder and a striker before we had injuries!!!!

    teams below us
Burnley. A team that are known to pick up points and go on winning little runs. Very negative so Id love to see them go down.
West Ham. New manager so may turn season around. It is Moyes though, so not likely.
Bournemouth. Another team that lose a bunch win a bunch. Its likely theyll hit a winning streak soon and theyve got a good manager. unlikely to go down.
Villa. Some decent players. Can play decent at times. Dont know much about their manager so they could go down. Maybe a manager change will get them points.
Norwich. Far behind. Could still survive but unlikely. Wouldnt write them off entirely.
Watford. hopefully just a new manager bounce. but I think hes instilled belief in them after two terrible managers so I think theyre ok.
    Southampton. good manager so safe.

If we had a number 9 who contributed we’d be flying.
    Goals mean everything.
Bruce will assure Ashley of this and if we can sign somebody to replace Joelinton who can chip in with 5 or 6 we’ll be able to compete for the top half again. Bruce is doing a very good job with what he’s got.
He’s helped Almiron reach his current form which is almost top four player form.

Betty – “Tsunki……. I mentioned Samatta first. I’ve been singing his praises for some time now. You can’t take credit for that when it was me that said he would be great for us”

Ha ha ha you’re great value Betty tell me you didn’t fall for it! But seriously I did spot Samatta first. He was building sand pies at South Shields and started crying when he dropped his ice cream in the water. Not a sight you see every day at the bus station.

Wait, is Ashley not in Miami? Was he literally just trying to get as far from Rafa as possible in the last three January transfer windows?

EGB from previous “Apparently the bowls currently on TV are generating a lot of excitement”

Are you deliberately trying to trigger Bladey?

Ashley has had to reduce the use of his private jet since he can not justify claiming it against his tax bill.

Lindi “although he could become more involved in so called scouting missions”

    God help us, please no…..

We’ll end up with Ben Stokes at Centre Forward as apparently he’s a great striker of the ball and makes things happen.

Tsunki because of a point earned at Wolves went into hiding for 40 hours or so.
He’s feeling his weight again now , and gone into motormouth mode.

What an utterly wretched fan he is.

Half way through the month & they are going to talk about transfer needs? Surely Bruce cant be so stupid to think he is going to get anywhere near what we need. Getting ready for the over the line sob story. I am convinced Fatty was Joelittons agent who was on 90% commission hence the 40 mill fee

This could we one of those years when 40 points didn’t buy safety. If we pip Norwich,
Sheffield United, Villa and West Ham at SJP, we would live for another year. That’s immensely doable even without any new signing. That’s my hope, anyway.

I really don’t get it how Newcastle United fail time & time again to sign a proven goalscorer – this has been going on for years now!

NUFC had the chance to sign Rondon, last season, who had proved that he could hit the target time after time but he did not fit into Mr Ashley’s age profile – The thing is Mr Sports Direct he scored goals and as we all know goals win games!

It’s about time you woke up to that fact Mr Shopkeeper! For heaven’s sake if you are NOT going to sell up wake up and protect your investment!!!
