Five Magpies Return As Four Youngsters Take Part In Training

Newcastle have released images from today’s training session. Things may be a lot better than even Bruce hinted at in his press conference this morning. Both Emil Krafth and DeAndre Yedlin have joined Jamaal Lascelles, Jonjo Shelvey, and Allan Saint-Maximin in full training.

While Jonjo and Allan have been ruled out for tomorrow, maybe Emil or DeAndre can be involved at right-back.

Steve Bruce already confirmed this morning that Jamaal Lascelles will, at the very least, make the bench for tomorrow’s replay. We would also expect Matt Ritchie to get his first start since August.

Isaac Hayden had to fill in at right wing-back at Wolves on Saturday, so seeing Krafth and Yedlin back in training could be a sign that we’ll have a natural right-back available tomorrow.

The other great news is that Steve Bruce still has four youngsters involved in the training session, with three of them being local lads. Tom Allan, Lewis Cass, Kelland Watts, and Elias Sorensen all continue to train with the first team.

We’d expect at least one, if not all, of Allan, Cass, or Sorensen to make the bench for the FA Cup.

What Will Be The Result Of FA Cup Replay Against Rochdale?

  • Win (80%, 1,306 )
  • Loss (17%, 275 )
  • Draw (3%, 54 )

Allan is more of a midfield/ striker/winger, if you want to play two full backs then they should be Cass and Francilette!

Surely waiting to discuss transfer targets mid way through the window currently open is incompetence.

Surely having regular discussions and open dialogue to plan ahead and even have a few different options for which scenario occurs. For example, scenario a- we are mid table and little to no injuries then the plan would be no major input. Scenario b- in relegation consideration and few injuries then priorities would be player x y and z. I imagine successful teams would do it this way rather than have a meeting scheduled for mid january, Ashley and charnley are certainly showing how inept they are at running this once great club.

    Your opening sentence above.

Not sure how Ashley’s going to get up here through storm Brendan. It’s not the kind of weather for helicopter flights.

Hope you’re not held up tomorrow jail and you get home safely.

So, Brucey is meeting with the owner.
After 6 months he is probably fed up with the Goon Show that is Barnes, Bishop and Charmless.
Could he possibly get the confidence of the owner and cut through all the crap.

One signing, say Batshuayi or similar and we would be in the clear.
We’ve played half a season without a goal scorer.
If he came and scored half a dozen goals we would be ok.

Many will be watching with interest.
The payment in March is the first payment on next years season ticket.

Fairs up, me too mate, I’m breaking my self imposed exile tomorrow, I’ll stay away from the league games but the cup matches are fair game in my eyes as Ashley makes no money from them anyway. I’m taking the kids along with me.

With that in mind, I’m hoping Bruce puts out the strongest team possible, I want to see Miggy, ASM and Big Andy in full flight.

Selfish? Maybe, but I want the kids to be hoarse by the end of it.

You are quite right. However my main point is to get a couple of up and coming youngsters involved but in positions of least harm and with legs/speed enough to put a challenge in when necessary. Very much like the young Rochdale lads. Sorry to repeat myself but Beckham and Bale both started at full back and worked their way forward.

“I’m meeting up with the owner in the next couple of days, that’s planned. As I’ve said all along, if there’s something that can really make us better and they’re available, then we’ll try to act, and I’ll ask the owner, who was very supportive in the summer.”……….“He was very supportive in the summer and he’s been very supportive of me full-stop, so yes, I expect that.”

    that will be nowt then

Are you referring to those who pay for their season tickets through direct debit?

I wonder if there will be another drop in takeup.

Apparently we’re offering Gayle to championship clubs who will only be obliged to buy him if they’re promoted.

Seems the wrong way to go about things seeing as everyone knows that he’s a far more effective striker in the championship than in the premier League.

There will be a drop if the owner does nowt.
    There may well be anyway.
Last year folks renewed thinking the manager would stay.

All sorts of things are wrong with MA’s ownership.
The thing I hate the most is the stupidity and the waste.

    Joelinton for example.
Bringing him in to play a role he is just not good at.

He’s not a kid. He’s 22 in a young mans game. If it was me I’d be saying hang on what the hell did you bring me here for. Seriously I’d kick off.

Jib at 9, maybe they have and maybe they haven’t. Considering neither Ashley nor charnley has much experience in owning or running a football club. MA even said he shouldn’t be anywhere near owning a football club, maybe this is due to him having no idea how to run it successfully or it is a very distant distraction and that he is leaving it to people who have as much experience in running a football club as I have in motorsport.

Yet he’s still here despite his tales to the papers, not exactly the marks of somebody who is getting the heck out of football ownership is it.

You reckon there’ll be a drop in ST sales if the owner does nowt?

And if the owner did something, would ST holders and potential buyers be daft enough not to see what the that’s up to if he sanctions a bit of spend? Surely they must see that Ashley won’t change his ways?

After 13 years of Ashley’s abuse of NUFC and it’s long suffering fans, he’s not going to change and anybody renewing must be be mad to think otherwise.

Posada, your post suggests you’d renew your ST if he sanctioned some spend. If I’m wrong, you’d be a major convert to the Ashley out cause.

Given the hype the Ashley-Bruce summit’s getting in the press, has the Magpie Group’s open letter been given any coverage by the national press or if it’s too much to ask, the local press?
    If not, why not?

There’s a canny video been released by NUFC showing about a dozen different camera angles of the Almiron goal from the weekend.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7NBRYQaC9o

There’s some lovely skill involved in this goal. Good pressing from our lads in the attacking third, quick thinking from Lobby to get the ball forward quickly and accurately, Dwight Gayle with a lovely lay-off with his chest, a super turn infield and good ball from Willems who had seen an opportunity for a forward run very quickly, Dwight Gayle reacting to his own sub-par first touch in the penalty area with great awareness to spot Miggy behind him and find him, and a very well placed controlled shot from Miggy.

All in all, a very good team goal, which is hard to appreciate from just the one camera angle and much easier to appreciate in this format.
