Key Magpie To Make Squad On Tuesday

During Steve Bruce’s press conference this morning, there were some silver linings with the injury situation. It looks like Jamaal Lascelles will be in the squad on Tuesday against Rochdale.

We could see the captain make an appearance similar to Matt Ritchie, who played about 30 minutes in his return from a four-month layoff.

It doesn’t end there, as Allan Saint-Maximin, Fabian Schar, and Jonjo Shelvey all could be involved against Chelsea on Saturday. Though we think it may be best to proceed with the utmost caution on these three players.

Injury analyst Ben Dinnery tweeted the following from Steve Bruce’s press conference.

The brightest news could be getting Jamaal Lascelles back. We’ve been without the captain for two months, and having him and Matt Ritchie in the team will make us even more resilient on the pitch.

We’ll see if he can get some minutes on Tuesday or if Bruce saves him for Saturday. He’s in a slightly different position to many of our wounded players in that his injury was skeletal and not muscular. So he could be fit and ready to play a part against Rochdale.

What Will Be The Result Of FA Cup Replay Against Rochdale?

  • Win (80%, 1,306 )
  • Loss (17%, 275 )
  • Draw (3%, 54 )

As far as strikers for the cup tie are concerned Yoshinori Muto
is the obvious choice but there is a club sniffing around ready
to pay £10.5M for him so will he be risked ?

Id use Rochdale to experiment. 4231. Hayden Longstaff Snr in midfield. Muto Longstaff Jr and Allan/Atsu behind Joelinton. Play attacking high press using the energy of the three attacking midfielders to buzz around Joelinton. Later this could be used with ASM and Almiron replacing Muto and Atsu.

Our attack seems perfect to play this way and theyd get a lot more chances and goals than they are now. I think its bull that we only have the players to play park the bus.

There’s no way Bruce wants to field his strongest side. Not a chance, there’s too much at stake now. The best he can do is roll out “senior” squad members (fringe, hardly used) with a healthy intake of youngsters in the guise of “having a look at them”. Sure, Bruce will hope our depth is better than Rochdale’s but this gasket was blown away their ground. A win on this one is a plus but it’ll be for nothing in the long run as we will not be getting anywhere near the final even of we buy tickets

Thing is with playing the youngsters is inexperience and this will manifest itself in concentration toward the end of the game. Bruce might be able to counter that a bit at half time with a quiz on times tables, some colouring books and that dilutey orange with loads of sugar in. 🙂

Bruce to have a meeting with Ashley this week. Everyone thinks it is a transfer summit however I have it on good authority that they’re meeting to discuss who will be the clubs new pie supplier next season.
Pie manufacturers have supplied free samples to taste and Bruce and Ashley are very keen to test the products.

imagine Dubravka got injured. hes already won us quite a few points. had any of our other keepers played yesterday it would have been a loss. id say hes easy player of the season so far. maybe even the best keeper in the league. reminds me of when shay given used to keep us in the league most seasons.

I agree i think if we played carroll or another with Almiron ,saint max and joelinton behind and the three inter changing positions we would cause most teams problems, but to do that you would need moblle cm’s which would mean there is no place for shelvey

There’s a player you might not have heard of so I’ll be the very first to suggest him but we should get this player from Genk. His name is Samatta, and I’m proud to be the first person ever to mention him. Feel free to jump on the bandwagon on this one but remember it was all my idea.

I went to wolves weekend and the atmosphere was good and positive in away fans which i wasn’t expecting after reading social media.

There were a couple of idiots in there though, one 3 rows in front of me spent the whole game coaching the game but using the f word and c word eight times in each sentence despite a family with 2 young kids beside him. when i say coaching it was “kick him in the head” “your s**t and need to run faster” and calling all of our players a “sp#*ka” at some point,an awful word that i hoped had gone from our language

We suddenly have a bit of an issue with our keepers – both Darlow and Elliott are out of contract at the end of the season. Dubs remains our best keeper and will, in theory, be our only keeper with top flight experience next season.

Do we rely on Freddy Woodman being strong enough to play second fiddle to Dubs next season and into the future, with Nathan Harker as third choice?

It’s risky, but at some point you have to give youth it’s head, or spend millions on potential flops like Matz Sels.

Few members here, including myself is shouting for a 4231 formation. I think the team do have the players for it. It may not be better defensively, but worth a run out. As the saying goes, attack may be the best defense. Which got me in love with Keegan’s team.

Although I got into football late eighties, it was Robsons England and Keegans Newcastle really got me hooked. I imagine if Id watched McLarens England and Bruces Newcastle Id have found another sport to watch. Bruce is a disgrace to football and its not just our fans saying it. Almiron, ASM and Longstaff are ideally suited to play a high press and give us the best entertainment since Ben Arfa. Joelinton may even thrive in that type of team. If not Carrol would be ideal and is as good as Rondon when fit. Hayden and Longstaff can cover enough ground in midfield and our defenders are good enough to not need extra support. Just not sure about fullbacks. There is an exciting team in there just waiting for Bruce to be sacked.
