More Details Revealed On Potential Academy Signing

Last month, there were reports that Newcastle had made a breakthrough in signing Queens Park midfielder Reagan Thomson.

Newcastle were said to have won the race over Celtic and Rangers for the 16-year-old with an increased bid. A few weeks earlier, a bid of £35k had been rejected by the Scottish club.

The Scottish Sun have an exclusive again claiming that Newcastle have beaten out Celtic and Rangers for the promising youngster.

The latest news is that Newcastle have had a bid of £50k plus add-ons accepted for Thomson. The midfielder will sign a two-and-a-half year deal and link up with the U23s.

Earlier this month, the Chronicle had hinted that a deal for Thomson was getting very close. So hopefully, we’ll see some sort of official announcement soon.

The youngster has made 9 appearances for Queens Park, who are pushing for a promotion play-off spot in the Scottish fourth-tier. He won’t turn 17 until August, so he’ll be one that will have time to develop.

Newcastle have a couple of other very promising midfielders in the ranks. Both Joe White and Lee Clarke’s son Bobby have been very impressive at the Academy. Hopefully, Thomson can do the same once he arrives.

£50k seems a ridiculously low fee for a first team player from any side. Presumably there are big sell-on clauses included in there, as well as big staged payments based on appearances and International call-ups.

    One for our U18s?

He has that glare that you can spot in the likes of fellow Celts Duncan Ferguson and Roy Keane. If he has their ferocity then he’ll be a force to contend with.

Lindi, nowt to worry about with the lack of press coverage – we’re just not that interesting to the wider World any longer, sadly…..

Just get Samatta signed up FFS. We have nobody in the squad even remotely capable of finding the back of the net as often as he does.

Typical of Ashley. What’s the kin point of meeting Bruce halfway through a transfer window to discuss what they might or might not do?
There’s no words for this bullshit other than bollocks.

Actually that article in the Mag.
The concept is that Joelinton creates the space for others to score etc.
Great, but a forward cannot be all about creating goals.
They have to be able to score themselves.

They have to be able to do the basics.
    1) Shoot with power.
    2) Move it a yard and shoot.
    3) Head a goal. Judge the flight of a ball.
    4) Get a shot away early.

Don’t care what spin is put on it.
I have not seen him do any of the above.

    Betty, spot on
Looks like Ashley and Bruce haven’t met in at least six months.
    Strategic planning ?
    Mission statement ?
    Ambition ?

    Nah, not in Ashley’s capabilities.
He’s a wheeler dealer in sports shoes and replica kits, not a visionary business or brand or football club owner.
The transfer window is 13 days old and will finish in another 18, hardly ahead of the game is he ?

I believe that due to Queens Park being amateurs they can’t command a large transfer fee but due to his age they can claim compensation, hence the low figure.
