Newcastle Comfortably Advance To Fourth Round With 4-1 Win Over Rochdale

We are through to the Fourth Round of the FA Cup after a dominant 4-1 win against Rochdale that saw young Tom Allan make his Newcastle United debut.

Newcastle came out unchanged after a dominant first half. However, Rochdale pulled their keeper and brought on Jay Lynch.

Rochdale enjoyed a bit of possession to start the half and had a few attempts on goal. However, none of the shots caused Karl Darlow any issues.

In the 56th minute, Steve Bruce handed 19-year-old Tom Allan his debut. He came on for Jamaal Lascelles, who was showing signs of fatigue in his first match since November.

Tom Allan– played well down the right

Steve Bruce brought on Andy Carroll for Miguel Almiron in the 61st minute as the game became quite stagnant with Newcastle losing some of their focus.

Bruce made his final change, and it was a return for Jonjo Shelvey, who came on for Matt Ritchie in the 69th minute.

Newcastle played a bit better after the substitutions with Tom Allan causing some havoc down the right. However, they weren’t getting too many clear chances.

In the 82nd minute, Joelinton got his goal, and it was on a Tom Allan cross from the right. It didn’t look like it was going to happen for Big Joe tonight. However, he got into the box and Allan delivered an excellent cross that the Brazilian was able to put away.

Rochdale pulled one back in the 86th minute through a Jordan Williams goal to deny Karl Darlow a clean sheet.

Newcastle did what they had to tonight, and in the end, it was a very comfortable night. Most importantly, everyone made it through unscathed.

A couple of positives are Joelinton got his goal. Steve Bruce had him in tonight to do just that. We are particularly delighted for Tom Allan, who will be buzzing and got an assist on his debut.

Can’t understand why people can’t be happy with a cup win and have to make derogatory comments. Previous managers wouldn’t even put a real team out yet Bruce puts out a decent team despite the risk of more injuries, Almiron scores again, Joelinton scores and a young un gets on and does well.
Any normal set of fans would be over the moon were in the 4th round and the strikers all score. If you don’t like the owners and the manager don’t go but don’t then slag the team off from your arm chair. Try supporting your team and the players who need that support.

Bruce is the first manager under Ashley to take the FACup seriously and put out a strong team. Fair play to him, but now he needs to do the same against Oxford, who play good football. No complacency please and don’t care that we have 2 games to play before Oxford. Send teams out to win the next game and do not think beyond that. And let’s fill SJP for Oxford match. £5 a ticket please Ashley. Let’s show the nation that the FACup still means something in the north east!

Overall good win and hopefully more confidence for Joelinton for the next game.

    Carroll deserves a goal!

    kenny,
There’s been 10K drop in season tickets, they have to show they want to win something, we have heard it direct from a former players nephew on here, if we didn’t know already that managers have been bollocked for fielding full strength teams. The most blatant was when we went in to January under Pardew with 30 points and he deliberately went out against the hapless OGS’ Cardiff, the season imploded after that. Bruce his own man ffs, the ST give away has altered this course ffs!

And has two more goals than miggy had at this stage of his nufc career

Be a nice dilemma for Bruce when he has Willems, Ritchie and Saint-Maximin to fit in the side.

Good to see Ritchie back and Hayden I feel deserves more credit than he gets.

    Jail –

I’m not saying everything is wonderful and Ashley is ok ; the point I’m trying to make is when we have so much misery and shit going against us let’s enjoy the small victories and celebrate when things do go well – I can’t understand those who claim to support us who can’t see the few positives when they finally come our way.
Let’s enjoy the win and the goal scorers while we can – we don’t get too many chances to enjoy them.

Bladey, you need to find a hobby. You clearly don’t support Newcastle and yet it seems this is your only source of human interaction in your life. You obviously support a sh!ttier club than ours so you have nothing better to do. Spending all your time on this blog and then slagging off the supporters is like being at a party nobody invite you to and then b!itching about the company.
