Newcastle vs. Rochdale – Team Prediction, Injuries, And Poll Result

This is the lineup we predict Steve Bruce will send out this afternoon. It has three changes from the draw at Molineux with Florian Lejeune, Christian Atsu, and Matt Ritchie getting starts.

Steve Bruce made a comment yesterday where he said he’ll have two youngsters on the bench. Therefore, he’s likely to field a team full of senior players unless he’s playing mind games.

Both DeAndre Yedlin and Emil Krafth were seen training yesterday, so maybe one of them will come in for Isaac Hayden, which could see Isaac move to center-back for either Florian Lejeune or Ciaran Clark.

Jamaal Lascelles will be available for this match so he could get a surprise start, but it’s more probable he’ll be a substitute.

We think that the midfield will consist of the Longstaff brothers for a third straight game.

We do have a nagging suspicion that youngster Tom Allan will make a surprise start on the right-wing. If so, it could be for Miguel Almiron, who must be in need of a rest.

If that’s the case, Atsu could shift to the right side, where he enjoyed a lot of success at Rochdale a few weeks ago.

Joelinton, if declared fit, will get the start ahead of Andy Carroll, who is probably going to be saved for the match against Chelsea on Saturday.

Newcastle Injuries

Allan Saint-Maximin – hamstring, Javier Manquillo – hamstring, Fabian Schar – hamstring, Jonjo Shelvey – hamstring, Yoshinori Muto – hip, Dwight Gayle – groin, Paul Dummett – hamstring, Ki Sung-yueng – undisclosed (late fitness test), DeAndre Yedlin – knee (late fitness test), Emil Krafth – undisclosed (late fitness test), Joelinton – groin (late fitness test

The poll results show that Newcastle fans are very optimistic that we’ll advance to face Oxford at St James Park in a couple of weeks. Of the 1635 total votes, 1306 are projecting a win. While only 17% are expecting a loss.

So let’s hope the majority of fans guessed right, and we will get through to the fourth round. We really could do with a comfortable win as well.

What Will Be The Result Of FA Cup Replay Against Rochdale?

  • Win (80%, 1,306 )
  • Loss (17%, 275 )
  • Draw (3%, 54 )

Total Voters: 1,635

I’m still trying hard to understand any points that you have made, they are usually wrongly made and totally miss-aimed.

You never furnish any real substance to your accusations and allegations no matter how strongly you may believe in them, they tend to be speculation and nothing more.

Sorry but I still think you are no more than a WUM, who’s sole purpose is to cause dissension on the blog!

If that’s not the PR you accuse others of, then what is?

    Joelinton – groin niggle……….
i wouldn’t be letting him anywhere near tonight’s game, very cold/windy. very very wet and a very slippy sodden pitch what could possibly go wrong 😉

Bill, FYI, it’s a bit wild – strongish wind and the rain is tipping down, so not good conditions but it’s due to improve between now and kick-off apparently.

Looks like Ibrahima Sissoko will be the first signing. Hopefully we’ll sign Bowen, that Nice player and Dembele after.

    From The Mag

“Deloitte replied to The Mag this Tuesday afternoon and explained that the Newcastle United absence wasn’t due to either of these potential explanations.

Instead, Newcastle United hadn’t supplied the figures when asked.

Whilst some clubs publish their accounts for the previous season ahead of the yearly Deloitte report, many clubs don’t, including Newcastle United. For those clubs, Deloitte request the figures ahead of the accounts being published and obviously clubs, including Newcastle, are usually happy to do so.

However, this time, for whatever reason, Mike Ashley and Newcastle United have decided not to supply the information to Deloitte.”

Bizarre, particularly if Ashley really does want to sell the club (I know!) – the Deloitte report is a shop window for anyone looking, surely?

Would definitely sign Abeid and Santon. Would also go for Mbabu. Marveaux would be a good signing as an impact player. Still got it. Scored about 20 goals since leaving us.

Sissoko is like Patrick Vieira. That’s what we need. Someone bossing the midfield and running with the ball.

Jib is spiky enough to defend himself. Part of the fun of this site is watching you and him poke each other with pointy sticks.
    my cut hasn’t arrived.
Press like we did in the first half last time and we got this. None of the rope and dope pissy passing back wards and sideyways please Mr Bruce.

    sissoko is like Patrick vieira????

vieira is like 45 year old now at least, cant see how that is the kind of player we should be looking at, need someone younger for sure.

Cant believe we will play 5 at the back at home to a league 1 club (if indeed we do..again).

give sorenson a go up front with Joe if needed, sometimes you dont know if a kid will make it until you throw them in. And at home to a league 1 club is a better shot than either longstaff got.

We’re at home to rochdale, 4 at the back please. Control the midfield and control the game.

    Give allan a start.

Two longstaffs holding, with allan, almiron and atsu in front of them. Sorensen, Carroll or Joelinton up top.
