Report – Newcastle Contact Nice About Former Benitez Target

Newcastle were linked with Nice midfielder Wylan Cyprien way back in March of 2017.

We were looking very good for promotion at the time, and Cyprien had been identified as a summer target for our return to the Premier League. However, the Frenchman suffered a cruciate ligament injury that month, and no move was ever made.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Newcastle have contacted Nice about the 24-year-old for a possible move this month.

Wylan Cyprien– could midfielder join Allan Saint-Maximin on Tyneside

The former France U21 international is valued at £20m and is also being tracked by Tottenham. Though Spurs are on the brink of signing Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes, who has just completed his medical.

Cyprien came through the Lens Academy before joining Nice in 2016. He’s made 105 appearances with 22 goals and 12 assists. This season Wylan has been in fine form, scoring 7 and creating 5 in his 20 appearances.

Newcastle know all about how Nice work in the transfer market having signed Allan Saint-Maximin this summer. Maybe Cyprien has been identified as the midfielder Bruce wants that can drive the team forward from deep.

Even the dinosaur Patsy that is Bruce realises that we need a forward, therefore all this talk of defenders and midfielders is a waste of everyone’s time. I can imagine the meeting between Ashlie and fat heed with Ashlie having looked at the season stats recommends that we play Shar up front as he can score goals !

Well being from Scotland I know a little bit about him! He was young player of the season at Dundee United so was hardly an unknown quantity when Hull signed him!

He also left Celtic to go to Queen’s Park (who actually produce a lot of players rejected from the Old Firm) which could be a good thing for the boy we have just signed! Their players tend to do well when they get big moves!

One thing about Bruce is he does seem capable of getting a really good player from the lower leagues in England and Scotland! Robertson , Maguire , Mcginn are bloody excellent players

This season Nice have played him more as a DM than CM or AM
so his scoring/assist stats are really quite spectacular.
His versatility would be a great asset
    and he knows ASM

We do need a creative MF, maybe more so than a CF. A CF with no service can’t score.
