Report – Newcastle Tracking 20-Year-Old Dutch Forward

Sport Witness has cited a report from France that Newcastle are interested in PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo.

The report mainly details Lyon’s pursuit of Villareal forward Karl Toko Ekambi, who was also linked with Newcastle. However, Lyon recently had a bid of £10.8m for Toko Ekambi rejected, but the La Liga club value their striker at closer to £20m.

Lyon could turn their attention to the Cody Gakpo as a more frugal target. However, Newcastle are said to also be tracking the 20-year-old.

Cody Gakpo– exciting young forward

Gakpo has been mainly played on the left wing this season for PSV with another Newcastle target, Donyell Malen, the number one striker. He can, however, player as a center-forward as well. In the league, he has 4 goals and 6 assists in his 18 appearances, only 7 of which were starts.

The Dutchman came through the PSV Academy and just signed an extension this past September until 2023. He’s a current Netherlands U21 international making five appearance with 2 goals.

Newcastle were linked with his prolific teammate Donyell Malen this summer. Malen is a former Ajax and Arsenal product whose performances this year has likely priced himself out of a move to Newcastle with some big clubs now vying for the 20-year-old, who has 17 goals this season.

It doesn’t look like Newcastle have identified Cody Gakpo as a target this month, but as one we have been watching for a possible move in the future.

    Thought the bus would move!!

I’m expecting most of those plates to crash with perhaps a daft £5m buy and a dodgy loan to save two of them, really no optimism here!

I know I’ve put up a Brucie bingo team but I’m half expecting Jonjo to start to bring a bit of craft and bite to the midfield!

According to BBC Newcastle, NUFC hasn’t delivered the numbers to Deloitte for them to factor them in this year.

    I love being right

First time for everything I suppose 🙂 After “Robertson getting signed from Queen’s Park by Bruce” moment the other day you needed to claw it back somehow!

Anyone with half a brain could see that a fall from 18th on
Deloitte’s list to below 30 couldn’t be right.
Apparently the combined editorial staff of The MAG and the Chronic
don’t have half a brain between them

Bruce “I need a striker, midfielder and a winger”

Ashley but I spent 40 million on a striker in the summer and bought Carroll who you were happy that we signed ?

How does Bruce convince Ashley to spend more money?

It’s not surprising NUFC have not given the numbers to Deloitte as the fail with everything they do so don’t be so pleased with yourself.

The Scots press always quote QP to LPool as the Andy Robertson fairytale

I’m guessing you didn’t even know he was at QP before his season at Dundee United

Nope wrong again Moonraker15 (you’re getting good at this)
The reason for the delay was the Grant Thornton debaclé

Ashley won’t sign anyone this window apart from a loan or 2. I would try for Glenn Murray for a short term fix to keep us in the Premier league. Without goals we are down! Also Joelinton’s now causing more problems than he solves so he needs a period out.
