Report – Newcastle Approach Representatives Of Standard Liege Defender

RMC Sport journalist Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Newcastle is one of several clubs who have held talks with the representatives of Standard Liege left-back Nicolas Gavory.

Translated from French – this so roughly:

Nicolas Gavory, French left side midfider of Standard arouses the interest of Ajax, Freiburg, Fiorentina and Newcastle.

Already in talks with its representatives, the business firm of GM & Associates.

For now, the leadership of RSCL has vetoed.

Strangely enough, the contact is over a move this month despite Newcastle not thought to be in the market for a defender in this window.

The 24-year-old has been outstanding in the Jupiler Pro League since joining from Utrecht this past summer for £3m. He’s made 29 appearances with 3 assists for Liege so far this season.

Nicolas Gavory– we hope Bruce doesn’t mistakenly think this is Olivier Giroud

While he’s only featured as a left-back in Belgium this term, the Frenchman can play further forward as a winger or as a defensive midfielder.

In his final season with Utrecht last year, he made nine appearances as a midfielder.

Gavory is an Auxerre Academy product who reached the U19 international level for France with 1 appearance in 2013.

He’s known as an attacking left-back who can put in crosses and also take set-pieces.

According to the report from France, there is also interest in the Frenchman from Ajax, Fiorentina, and Freiburg.

Standard Liege are reportedly unwilling to entertain offers this month for their French defender. This is an odd link for Newcastle this month, so maybe they are sounding out the player out for a possible move in the summer.

Lazaro may not be a huge improvement over Yedlin, I’d imagine. Whatever it may be, I get a sense Steve Bruce is after players, who, like him, are not much into tactics.

I see Southgate is at Watford again today. Does anybody know how far north his contract permits him to travel in this job? 😀

The transfer rumours are coming thick and fast now but very few with any real substance.

He probably gets nose bleeds if he ventures above the Watford Gap. 🙂

Tough game for the Boro today but Tavernier showed up well in it before being substituted around the 70 minute mark.

And that rain in Oz is around 2 months to late for them, unfortunately.

Like I said earlier, unless I see ‘contract agreed’ in any linked players I just zip past it. This sounds dubious at best and unlikely in this window for sure. Willems and Dummett are two good left backs – assuming we do sign Willems of course, but we’d be crazy not to.

We do need to find another left back on top of Willems. Dummet and Ritchie can both play there when required but we need 2 specialist wing backs.

If the Lazaro news is true, I think that could signal the end of Yedlin with us and probably Manquillo also, either this window or leaving on a free in the summer.

Lazaro would give us some really good versatility either playing wingback in a 5 or being pushed forward as an orthodox winger if we go 4 at the back.

Howay man Munster search for “don’t have a thrombo” which is what I said. 🙂 Tough shift this last 24 hours mate maybe if you laid off “prodding the frog” (whatever that means) and concentrated on accuracy you wouldn’t fall afoul of narcolepsy. Look it up.

EGB, have you seen much of Tavernier at Boro? I’ve only seen him play a couple of times, could be an interesting addition maybe in the summer but I’d imagine they’ll want similar sort of money to what we have for Murphy.

So am I correct the essence of our “transfer activity” is loans in positions we don’t actually need? Or am I way off?

You are in sync with the club, pretty much wide of the mark and nowhere near the line.

I think it’s more about strength in depth Tsunki. Our first eleven is actually quite decent but injuries, expose us badly.

With takeover talk now resurfacing, it would be inappropriate to make any signings at this time.

Fairs Cup, we recently bought an H96 max from Amazon for £30. You get the apps from Firelinked and need a vpn, but you get every game live in HD. So much better than anything else we’ve had.

Unused, agreed, but having just shelled out 40m for Joelinton he’s unlikely to buy another striker unless we offload Gayle and Muto first. We need to offload players anyway to make room for incoming.

Jail stop embarrassing yourself. If rafa played rubbish football you accepted it. When Bruce plays football that’s as bad you moan. You’re a con artist. Get over your trauma. By the way, was it incorrect to hope for better football against weaker teams from the man you said was one of the best in the world, or from Bruce. Hypocrite.
